Positive: Very unique. A museum gives some context. Very quiet and very well kept. The officers room was quite large, and the staff was very friendly and breakfast was very nice.
Negative: The second bedroom in the officers suite is very, very claustrophobic- exceptionally low ceiling. My son couldn’t sleep there. In order to close blinds, you must go outside and close the large wooden shutters. The phone number on the booking confirmation is missing a number, so you can’t call it. Unfortunately we left a necklace behind and it was not turned in by the cleaning staff.
Summary: Exceptionally unique, very well kept. Not sure there is another place like this in the world to stay. Very serene locati

We came on vacation with our children and they enjoyed it very much and so did we. The hotel staff was very nice and happy to help us with whatever we needed. We highly recommend this place!

Positive: We chose to come here for the beautiful location at 50 meters from the river Waal and because we could bring our dog. It was a wonderful experience! The beds were very comfortable. Although the restaurant offered breakfast, we did not take breakfast at the restaurant. There was a small kitchen for coffee, tea and making breakfast in the room which was very handy. Only a cooker for eggs was missing. The apartment was beautifully designed and the room that consisted of different spaces in the contrescarpgalery spoke of its military history, without being intimidating. The location of the fort and the way it is restored is spectacular and the kitchen of the restaurant is superb!!
Negative: There were some minor issues that the keepers of this place might want to look into: The shower has only one temperature and cannot be adjusted, it gets colder when used for a few minutes. I had understood that there would be a double bed but there were two separate mattresses placed side by side, with also two separate covers. A little uncomfortable if one is a couple. The small bedside tables were bent by heavy weight, which made them impossible to use for a glass of water or something similar. And finally the two very nice designed chairs at the table were so heavy, that it was not inviting to put them outside in the sun, so perhaps two light chairs to use outside might be an idea.
Summary: A wonderful place to visit, filled with history and run by a very enthusiastic staff! Go there!

Positive: Very comfortable large room, good shower and stored our bikes in the room. We had to cycle about 20 minutes away to get dinner. Breakfast was OK, friendly hosts.
Negative: Some fresh fruit at breakfast.
Summary: Nice big clean room in an interesting fort.
