1 Bedroom House in Moab

It's almost unbelievable. The river and beach are about a five minute walk out your door. Kayaks at the river. Three doubles and six singles. Side by sides, take you to the Wind Caves and Chicken Corner. Three to four hours for $250 less than half what they charge in town. There are unlimited hikes from the property.
There is so much wildlife it's hard to keep track of. In addition to the hundred or so birds, squirrels, and chipmunks that come to eat each day, there's the man himself, Kobae. Kobae is the 210 pound security tortoise that lives at the lodge and when he's not hanging out on the porch, or chowing down on romaine, he'll be looking for someone to go hiking with. With evening the lodge front porch comes alive. Some combination of ringtail, skunk, fox, and raccoon eat nightly either on or just off the front porch. You're welcome to hang out at the fire pit or sit in gravity chairs and view the night sky. For kids especially it's an incredible experience.
The night sky, the incredible views, the critters, the side by sides, the beach, the river, kayaking, Wind Caves, hiking, all here. Nobody else has what Base Camp has or even comes close. Worry about other parts of your trip but don’t worry about this part. I live here pretty much 24/7/365 and I’ve been sharing it with guests for fifteen years. You want an adventure, not just staying somewhere, you’ve found it.
Now, having said all that, it’s quiet, off the grid, and you want to get away, that’s here too. Some folks just sit on the porch and unwind, enjoying the landscape or finding a spot around the property to just sit and read. There’s no shortage of those spots. I’ve spent many a morning hiking out to a different place each day and reading.
Whatever you want to do, all you have to do is walk out the door. That’s special.
See you soon,
Tom

Summary: This was one of the best and most unique places we’ve ever visited. The entire family absolutely loved the 4 nights we spent there. Lots of hiking and exploring, kayaking, disc golf, and family time. The kids spent hours looking at the stars every night and never asked for their phones or IPads. It’s the perfect place for a relaxing, mental re-set.A few things to know:1) Plan 60min-90min for the drive from Moab depending on your vehicle and how comfortable you are on steep, bumpy roads. We have a Subaru Outback, and it was no problem.2) Purchase all of your food before you arrive so you don’t have to go back to town.3) The hogan is well stocked with supplies.....mini fridge, coffee maker and coffee, cooking/grilling utensils, silverware, plates, spices, oil, etc. Of course it’s not high end stuff, but it works great.4) No need to bring camping chairs.....there are 5 zero-gravity chairs plus a table and chairs to eat outside.5) There is plenty of firewood provided.6) There is only a couple of free power outlets to plug things in. Bring a Jackery or other portable power station if needed. This is such a great place. I can’t recommend it enough. We’ll definitely be back next year!!

Summary: If you truly want to unplug and just walk off into the Utah canyons, book this place. Tom and his staff took care of everything. We didnt have a need/want for anything. The Colorado River is right there. The female hogan was comfy and well stocked. The second we drove off, i wanted to go back.

Summary: We really loved our stay in this little hut. There were 4 of us, 2 were children. The only thing we would do different is park the truck and trailer down into town and drive the RZR up to the hut. I hope we get to return because the location was wonderful and the view was beautiful!

Jack F. May 17, 2022 12:00:10 PM
Summary: Really enjoyed our stay- didn’t expect the totally remote locale and loved it! Enjoyed our own canyon for three days! Kayaking on river was fun and waking up to sunshine over the ridge was amazing!

Summary: If you are looking for an " off the grid" experience, this is it. Communication with Tom leading up to the trip was great, and property exactly as described. The Hogan had everything we needed for our stay, and we enjoyed the fire pit during the cool evenings. The Hogan had a propane heater, but we brought our own blankets, so did not need to use it. I would recommend buying all the groceries/ food/ drinks that you will need during your stay BEFORE you get there because you won't want to leave once you are there. The drive over Hurrah pass is not something I would want to do every day, but Tom communicated the directions clearly before our trip, so we knew what we were getting into. Colin was great with helping us get settled in, and gave us a walkie talkie to get in touch with him during our stay if we needed anything. It was truly a memorable vacation, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique experience.
