Positive: The hotel is well located for what we wanted to do and see. The room was comfortable. The matress was softer than usual hotels these days. The breakfasts were excellent. The dinner choice is limited but what we had was generally good.
Negative: The room decor was dowdy and the furniture peculiarly old and not very functional. A drop down desk had supports that wouldn't come out of the desk. The bathroom was good and well done. The hall carpet was dirty, desperately in need of a good hoovering that didn't happen while we were there. The hotel gave me the general impression that it was run on a shoestring. We paid full price but I noticed the day before we arrived, they were offering 30% discounts. The hotel lacked the elegance one expects in hand picked hotels, and our fellow guests appeared in the dining room dressed very, very casually. Perhaps this is modern culture but it sure does cut through the elegance of an evening. I didn't use the spa, but I would have liked to swim. The swimming pool is one meter deep. Women were using it to walk through. Ridiculous. You can't swim in a one meter deep pool.
Summary: An interesting restoration of an ancient property. Not a hotel I would recommend.

Positive: Such a beautiful hotel, with amazing Spa and very good dining experience. The best thing about this hotel was the staff. Everyone is so welcoming, helpful and friendly and it makes your stay extra memorable. Can't wait to come back!

Positive: Really clean, nice and quiet, fantastic spa. Food was nice, with a good variety, a little pricey but it's a nice place. The grounds are nice although small, however there are public walkways through the surrounding fields if you like a walk

Negative: Room was tired and hotel has no lift and children are only allowed to use the pool for a limited time. Although we informed the hotel of our time of arrival, On arrival we had to wait 15 minutes with no one to even be there to welcome us. We had to walk to the restaurant and ask for someone to call the receptionist. When he arrived, he didn’t even say sorry and simply said “I was showing the previous customer their room” and that was our greeting. At 1:45 the smoke alarm went off for about 15-20 seconds which made us get up and head to the corridor but a member of staff told us to return to our room but we had no further explanation on what happened! Although from then for a long period of time, staff were running up and down the corridor which made me stay awake till 3:40 worrying if my child will be ok on the top floor of the building. At 5:30 the phone to our room rang and stopped again! I assumed it was related to the alarm so I called the receptionist and he replied “I did not call you”. Again no apologies in anyway why the phone randomly rang! At checkout I asked the receptionist what happened last night and what was the alarm for? He replied “we’re still investigating but don’t panic?!!!” Well I did…. Throughout the night….
Summary: Beautiful place but Worst sleep of my life ever, anywhere!
