My family just fell in love with this secluded FARMHOUSE which has been a treasure of one family for over 100 years. Originally having 87 acres, this home is still on 7+/- acres of those original acres (rebuilt years ago) with the house, shops, barn and especially The Chicken House—NOW Payten’s Peeps.
Payten is our 8-year old daughter and it has been her project to recover that overgrown chicken house by clearing the chicken coop area from years of growth all by herself. After she got it cleaned up, Payten waited for “Chick Days “ in February where her and her father purchased 13 of the little, 2-inch chicks and brought them home in a box. Raised in her room, then in our garage and finally the chicken house. She calls the chickens “The Ladies” and oh yes, each Lady has a name.
So breakfast is on Payten and “The Ladies” as they provide daily fresh eggs (you will gather from her chickens) to make a scrumptious breakfast with special homegrown eggs (of course), pancakes, maple syrup, bacon, fresh toast and milk. These items will be provided in the kitchen for you to cook a home cooked breakfast when you come to stay.
Enjoy the completely renovated home with plush beds and new bedding! I’m a neat freak (I usually have to bring my own bedding when staying in hotels.) Not here—EVERYTHING IS WASHED EACH TIME—I’ve got you covered!
There’s plenty to do on our farm with a 300-year-old oak tree where 2 swings are hanging from—lunch is perfect on the shaded picnic table right under that mighty oak. When the sun goes down, gather around the bonfire and hear the night come alive with sounds from nature or play your favorite country songs to cozy up to the one you love—We’ve got enough wood to last all night! I've got you covered here too.
There are other surprises along the way and this farmhouse is only 5 minutes from the MO River Bridge right at the MO State Capitol. Take Ghost Tours of the Missouri State Penitentiary for another night of fun. Great restaurants (we’ll suggest our favorites) and wonderful places the average traveler can’t find. Did I mention our Farmhouse is 4 minutes from the Katy Trail or cross the MO River Bridge on the bike access, attached to the side of the Bridge, to ride into the historic Jefferson City Downtown area. The bicentennial bridge is close to completion where you will be able to access Adrian's Island which is below the Capital and across the railroad tracts bordering the Missouri River. This is a multimillion dollar project that has been decades in the making and will bring a lot of tourism to Jefferson City.

Summary: My son lives in Jefferson City in a small duplex. There was no extra room for family to stay there for Christmas so we moved into the Farm house! We had no expectations of what that would be like and boy were we in for a treat! Kristina Steve, and Payten had sooo many extra special treats😍 Fresh eggs and breakfast were special but Christmas decorations including a fresh Christmas tree made us feel right at home. The house is very cozy, beds comfortable, and many amenities ! Thank you so much! We look forward to returning

Summary: Our family was in town for thanksgiving visiting extended family. We felt so welcomed before we arrived. Kristina was very thoughtful and generous. She offered to thaw a turkey for us and get us anything we may need for the holiday. When we arrived, it was so easy to get into the house. She had frozen pizza in the freezer, milk, cookies, snacks and this amazing cinnamon bread for the mornings. We truly felt like family. All the sheets and blankets were freshly washed. The decor is farmhouse chic and so cozy. We went out to the chicken coop each morning for fresh eggs. I really can’t say enough great things. We plan to stay here next time we come to town to visit family. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

Summary: Oh my…..This VRBO was absolutely perfect in every way possible! The location was close to Jeff City but just enough drive to put you in complete peace and quiet. Our GPS got us there with no problem and then we didn’t want to leave. The house and all amenities were wonderfully thought out and we wanted for nothing…..even farmfresh eggs with our provided breakfast! It was spotless, and the grounds immaculate. The farm animals are there if you want to interact ( and of course we did) but no problem if you don’t. There just isn’t anything Kristina and her family could do to make the farmhouse more wonderful for our future stays. This was a Mom/Daughter get-away and Kristina made sure we were happy with restaurants, shopping ideas, and anything that might be of interest to us during our stay. Can’t wait to return ( it will be like going home again) and share this jewel with other friends & family! Thank you Kristina for all your love and hard work to make these memories happen ! Summary: Our family of six (children ages 12, 10, 9, 6) had a wonderful time at “the farm.” The hosts went above and beyond to make sure that the property had activities that appealed to my kids’ ages. The house was clean, comfortable, well stocked, and a great place to gather. However the real magic was in the property. My children were enthralled with the animals, the swings, and rural life in general. What a unique get-away this home provided!

Summary: It was a perfect stay for our family of 5's holiday visit. The house was clean, tastefully remodeled and decorated, private, roomy, well-stocked and thoughtfully prepared for houseguests. Enjoyed the fresh eggs and the hospitality of the kitties and Milo. Only wish we could have stayed longer to fully appreciate all the place had to offer. Kristina was extremely accommodating when I had to reschedule our trip. Without hesitation, we'd stay here again!

Summary: This place is a perfect getaway ! The farmhouse setting was cozy and modern. The house had everything we needed for the week. Including snacks and personal touches through out the house. The spacious property even had a place to have a bonfire that we used to roast hot dogs and smores. The chickens were a fun touch to gathering your own fresh breakfast eggs. It was a nice and quiet getaway. We would highly recommend a stay at the cozy farmhouse!
