Positive: The location of the accommodation with a sea view was great. Beautiful, clean accommodation with an idyllic space to relax on the veranda. Very nice hosts took us on a tour of the island for an additional fee with a delicious lunch and explained a lot about the island, locations and culture.

Positive: "A Perfect Stay at Fare Mirimiri!" We had a wonderful stay at Fare Mirimiri. Perched on a hillside with breathtaking views, this guesthouse offers the perfect setting to relax and soak in the beauty of Raiatea. We arrived at the Apooiti Marina in Raiatea after a week of sailing, we were of course expecting to wait a few minutes, but Cathy, the owner, was already there to meet us. From the moment we got in the car, she made us feel very welcome. When we arrived at the guesthouse, we felt like we were in paradise. The house, surrounded by nature, is tucked away on a hill with breathtaking views. Every room offers a spectacular view. Cathy was simply amazing. Her kindness and generosity made our stay truly special. We arrived just before sunset, and I thought it would be nice to have an apero on the balcony and enjoy the view, but of course, we didn’t have anything to drink. I asked Cathy if we could perhaps buy a beer from her, but she didn’t think she had any. BUT a few minutes later she came back and gave us two beers. This is what I mean by generosity! The house was spotless and had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. If you're looking for a peaceful place with a welcoming atmosphere and stunning scenery, Fare Mirimiri is the ideal spot. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Positive: The view from the front porch is magnificent and is where where you want to be all the time! Cathy and Ralph are wonderful hosts and make you feel like part of the family. They know everyone on the island and are incredibly helpful in getting things done - like groceries, transportation or other bookings. Cathy helped us arrange personalized transportation for an incredible dive experience with HemisphereSub Raiatea (highly recommended!). Cathy also runs a tour business so consider that as an add-on if you really want to get to know the island and island culture. Ralph, her husband, is a former pearl farmer so you can also tap into their expertise there!

Negative: Taxi access is a challenge if Cathy or Ralph aren't available due to the challenging driveway. If you plan on hiring a car, check with Cathy and consider high clearance, 4WD as it's pretty steep and potentially slick. Ralph was incredibly helpful with our luggage as we were carrying a lot. Also, realize there isn't air conditioning, but the mountain breeze is lovely.

Summary: Authentic island experience! You feel at home and part of the family.

Positive: The view from here was so lovely, so extraordinary, that we chose to eat here every single night. We just brought food in, because it was better than being at a restaurant! We did the same for our breakfasts. And one day, we just enjoyed the view while we played cards and read. We are not sit-in-the-hotel people, but this was just just a mountain-top oasis of peace and relaxation. Beautiful outdoor shower. Host so friendly.

Negative: Only thing you need to be aware of is that the drive is a bit steep and scary, and you'll probably park a bit below and walk up the steep hill to get there. So, not super convenient to lots of comings and goings. I'd still stay here anyway if you like a nice view and can walk up/down a hill!

Summary: Such a gorgeous view, we chose to spend extra time here, and eat here, just to look out at it!

Positive: The view! And the cosy high sofa to admire that view and the amazing sunsets every night. And the hosts are so welcoming.

Negative: A bit of a challenge to park the car up there, mainly because our basic car was low and we made some scratches underneath because of the slope. Better to have a big car or park lower.
