Summary: The Fairfield by Marriott in Aso is a very comfortable hotel like the Fairfield in Nikko where my wife and I staid before. The rooms are clean, modern and with a lot of light coming in through a big window; comfortable enough that on a rainy day we decided to stay in the room almost all day. Personnel at the reception is very friendly and helpful.The restaurant selection in the area is not the greatest but there is a Lawson Station shop nearby. Additionally the hotel offers free coffee, tea etc. and sells some food items which can be heated in microwaves if necessary. The Fairfield is located near the local train station and has sufficient parking space if you come by car.

Summary: Very clean room and great design. Very new building. There’s a cosy seating space downstairs with communal amenities. Near to the main station and main road.

Summary: Everything meets expectations. I suggest to request a room facing the train track. We manage to spot AsoBOY! and the luxury Seven Stars. No restaurant onsite but we grab dinner from the nearby roadside market.

Summary: Literally opposite Aso train station if arriving by train. Has plenty of parking and less than thirty minutes drive to the volcano visitors center. Feels brand new in 2025. Realistically you are going to need a car to have options for dinner etc.
