Elk Hollow Getaway is a comfortably decorated, two bedroom, two bath cabin with spacious covered decks surrounded by tall pines and has all the comforts of home, including WiFi and expanded satellite TV for those football games you guys and gals like to watch. Elk Hollow is located only a few miles from the Village of Cloudcroft, and sits on several lots allowing you room to enjoy the sunshine and private wooded location. We call our cabin Elk Hollow, because at dawn and dusk the elk will stroll down the hollow beside and below the cabin. Sometimes you will see herds of 25-30 elk around the cabin.
In the great room, the ledge-rock gas fireplace will warm you during chilly evenings. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need including instant hot water. Use the gas barbecue grill on the deck while enjoying a spectacular view of the Sacramento Mountains. There is a pond just down the road from the cabin where you can feed the many fish and ducks. There is also a nice hiking trail through the Lincoln National Park just beyond the pond.
The bedrooms at Elk Hollow are very nicely decorated, have ceiling fans, flat-screen TV's, and both have nice views. Both bathrooms have heaters in addition to central gas heating.
Elk Hollow is located in a private community where the roads are maintained year-round. The community has no really steep hills, so driving and walking is a pleasure. It is advisable, however, to use a four-wheel drive vehicle or chains during winter months. We provide snow discs for your youngsters use during the season.
There is abundant wildlife in the area. You may see elk, whitetail and mule deer, bears, raccoons, chipmunks, rabbits, turkeys, and a huge variety of birds. Several varieties of hummingbirds make their home in the Southern Rocky Mountains from April through Mid-September.
Just minutes away from our cabin is the Cloudcroft Lodge and Golf Course, tennis Courts, picklball courts, Ski Cloudcroft, the Village Ice Skating Rink, Zenith park where you can picnic and BBQ. There is also a playground, shopping, the Cloudcroft Museum, bakery, winery, and restaurants. Browsing the quaint shops in the village is a must.

Summary: Everything was as listed, and the house was in a really nice location. Unfortunately, our stay was incredibly brief due to a fire breaking out just a few miles away, followed by a mandatory evacuation. On the up side, the owners were very quick to show concern, and a full refund was granted with no hassles at all. Also, in the ten or so minutes we were there, I counted five moose, all of whom were just casually hanging about right next to the house off the deck. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely check here first.

Summary: Our nephews really enjoyed seeing a herd of Elks, plus snow on Saturday morning. It was their first experience in the mountains, great location, plus walking to the pond near by was also one of their favorite time. One of our favorite cabins.
