Positive: Owner was going to cancel the booking due to some unexpected personal circumstances but kept it because she said she didn't want to inconvenience our family/party - I really appreciate this kind of thoughtfulness/consideration, it was very kind thank you. She also gave us the option of checking out really late as there was no booking for the same day, which again was very kind. Villa is lovely, everything in good working order including all important air-conditioning; located in a small village which (although hard to find as per below) is clearly a very safe and friendly neighbourhood as it appears nobody locks their house as there's no need!

Negative: Appeared to be no hot water at night, although our next villa in Crete that week also had the same issue, so maybe it's a Crete/villa thing related to the solar panels? It was warm enough to be comfortable in a tepid shower though, so it really wasn't a big deal, and the temperature improved in the morning. We had a family misunderstanding and accidentally weren't picked up at the airport by my sister as planned, so at ~midnight we had to hop in a taxi to get to the villa. Due to there being quite an unusual address system in Crete (broad postcodes, no house numbers and sometimes not even a street name on Google maps!) I had nothing more than the name of the villa and the village to give the cabby, plus showing him a pin of the suspected location on Google maps. The cabby initially said he knew where the village was, but then kept asking what the address was en route and got angry when I couldn't provide him more than what I already had, and we ended up driving in circles for a while (which belied the statement he'd made earlier that he "of course" knew the village) until eventually finding it. This was a tad stressful to deal with in the wee hours of the morning after a long journey, so I would recommend getting your own hire car from the airport, or organising a transfer to the villa through the owner so you are sure they know where you're going.

Positive: Our flight was canceled, and we needed a last-minute place to stay. The owners welcomed us near midnight and allowed us to stay until our departure the next evening. The rooms were clean and spacious. We are incredibly grateful for their hospitality!

Positive: Ella’s a was an excellent host. She was friendly and went beyond our expectations. The home had everything and more than a usual rental unit normally provides. Location is minutes by foot or car to many beaches. Mini mart steps from home was handy for supplies that four people needed. Can’t say enough good things about this property and especially Ellada.
