Summary: Stayed here pre and post backpacking trip with four middle-aged friends and it was perfect for our needs. Property is quiet and shade of trees is idyllic on hot days. One unit was being remodeled after what appeared to be a fire went through it some time ago. Grass lawn, chairs and fire pit were great. The massive common house kitchen and dining was also cool, but we didn’t use it.

Summary: In adventurous mode (trip to Las Vegas), I rolled the dice and tried something outside of my norm (we stayed three nights at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas). The Eastside Guesthouse was a perfect transition back to the real world. Clean, comfortable, convenient (located on Hwy 395 going through town), walking distance to Eric Scott's Bakery and something new for us the upon arrival, Aaron Scott's Roadhouse restaurant. 5 minutes stroll from the hotel. Food and service was great!

Summary: This a good place to stay in Bishop. Its clean and well located downtown. Even if on the main road the noise was not a problem and i was surprised. Clean nice, people so all good!

Summary: We know the property was meant to be clean. It's a beautiful, little spot they've carved out of Bishop. AC worked great (and it was VERY needed). However, a few things that would prevent us from possibly returning: 1. You pay for the room and then you ALSO pay extra for each person staying in the room. I didn't understand that. Seemed lame to us. What's the cost of the room cover? 2. I know they meant to have a clean room, and at first glance, it would look like it. However, we had a pretty serious ant issue in our room. We hand wiped the floor twice (with a wet hand towel) to try and disrupt their path. No luck. The floor was kind of sticky and definitely dusty upon arrival. After two, big wipe downs, we still had a lot of ants (in our beds, on our bags, in the bathroom, etc.). Bummer. 3. While we understood there was no fridge in the room (only in the common kitchen), you can't access the fridge before 6am. We had an early departure for a hike, so keeping our newly purchased food cold over night was not an option. We didn't know that when we bought our food (which required refrigeration). Another bummer. 4. On-site construction went until 8:30pm. That's A LOT of banging and hammering (not mentioned when we made the reservation) Bummer, again. Staff was friendly enough, but certainly wasn't going to accommodate us getting our hiking food before 6am. That was disappointing. 5. Wifi very medium Overall, we know Eastside Guesthouse meant well. Maybe a 2nd visit?

Summary: I think these are my only (minor) complaints: - There are always a few sugar ant ‘scouts’ roving around. - The bathroom exhaust fan seems to run continuously, no matter what you do. - You may hear muffled voices or footfalls from other guests, varying by location. Pros: - Convenient location within walking distance of shops and restaurants. My favorite is actually just Pollo Loco next door; the Mexican food’s great, the people are down-to-earth, and they try to be accommodating of dietary needs. - Site and buildings are laid out in a ‘pocket neighborhood’ that feels both private and communal. Constant DIY improvements add to the charm. Guest rooms each have a private exterior entrance. The vibe this creates is tremendously restorative. - Outdoor seating, stream and pond, and lawn with games all feel so welcoming. - So is the main building, which has a communal kitchen and comfy living area with fireplace, seating, books, resident cat, and a garage door open to the lawn when it’s nice out. This creates no-pressure opportunities to compare tips with other visitors — which can be helpful and loneliness-curing for solo travelers. Spend your money here instead of at a corporate hotelier! Lots of young hipster skiers and backpackers stay here. I’m not one but they seem nice. :)
