Summary: Overall, a nice stay. You cannot beat the location and view. The renovations and leaking hallway roof were a bummer as well as the not-so comfortable pull down Murphy bed. However, the staff were friendly and helpful and the great balcony/patio views were great. Also, the proximity to everything in town is hard to beat.

Summary: My partner and I stayed in a 1-bedroom suite at East Bay Suites for a weekend getaway, and it was easily one of the best lodging experiences we've had in Minnesota. The suite was extremely clean, cozy, and well-equipped — full-size fridge, semi-full kitchen with a small oven, a comfy bed, fireplace, DVD player, and a balcony overlooking the charming mountain and town views of Grand Marais. Before arriving, I requested a romantic setup with rose petals arranged in a heart shape on the bed. Not only did they deliver on this request (for an additional fee), but it came out even better than I imagined — thoughtful touches like this made the entire stay feel special and unforgettable. The entire property exceeded my expectations — from the spotless room to the welcoming lobby, the stunning lakefront access just steps away, and even the easy, free parking. It was that perfect blend of a hotel experience with the warmth and comfort of home. The staff were beyond friendly and generous. They offered guests passes for swimming, crafts, s’mores, popcorn, bikes to ride, books, DVDs, and even painting activities. We felt truly welcomed and cared for the entire time. Location-wise, it's ideal — right in town so we could walk everywhere. This was our first time in Grand Marais, and East Bay Suites made it memorable. Summary: Private beach area w/ fire pit I would have given it a 5 star, but we arrived after 8p, checked-in, rushed back out to get a quick meal because most restaurants closed around 8p, we found a few opened until 9p Went back to our room to wind down and relax and our door lock mechanism died, nothing worked, we called the after hour number and an assistant got their quickly and tried several keys nothing worked. Clothes and medicine was locked up for the night, within 45 minutes of trying to get access to our room, we were offered the room next door so we could at least shower and sleep, but our fresh clothes were unavailable until 8a the next morning when maintenance changed the batteries so we could get into our room. The general manager of the property should make sure there is a physical key on the property to take care of a situation like this, if we had health issues an had to take medications during the night and early morning, someone would have needed to call a locksmith If management would have offered a discount for our trouble, that would been the right thing to do, in my opinion. So that’s the reason they didn’t get a five this time I will go back again in the future, but I will remind them that this happened, so it is not repeated
