Positive: We had a lovely stay at Duck Pond Lodge in Oudtshoorn. The accommodation was clean, well-kept, and set in a beautiful, peaceful environment. Waking up each morning to birds singing and the distant sound of lions roaring was truly special and unforgettable. Richard, the host, was exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and caring, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Thank you for such a wonderful experience – we would definitely recommend it!

Positive: Breakfast is not included in the price, however, Richard open his house for us - we could make us of the kitchen, for coffee, tea, the utilities there - felt like home. The whole set up is so nice (feels like you are on a farm - quiet and peaceful, with the most beautiful mountain views The deck is so nice, just to sit and relax
Negative: everything was in order - and the owner was not shy to ensure that the best is used for the room (eg hand soap - not your ordinary soap - everything was so nice)

Positive: Richard is the most lovely human being. The suite is part of his house, but he didn’t invade our privacy. Great veranda, great view. Comfy bed. Good shower. He had made the effort to check which restaurant was open on a Sunday night. We had access to the kitchen with all necessities. He was interesting and friendly to talk to. Thank you Richard.

Positive: We stayed at this lodge from Friday to Monday and had an incredible experience. Friday night was a special evening with my bridesmaids, and from Saturday to Sunday my new husband and I enjoyed a mini honeymoon here. It was absolutely wonderful. The lodge itself is stylish, comfortable, and very well equipped — with amazing facilities and gorgeous views from the deck that made our stay extra special. We even took some of our wedding photos on the deck with our family, bridesmaids, and groomsmen — the pictures turned out absolutely stunning thanks to the view of the dam. Richard, the owner, was fantastic: kind, generous, and always attentive. His communication was exceptional from start to finish, which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. This is truly a hidden gem — affordable yet classy, stylish, and comfortable. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable getaway.
Negative: Note for future guests: Because the lodge is located next to a dam and open fields, bugs are inevitable. It wasn’t a problem for us, but worth being aware of.

Positive: Beautiful facility in Oudtshoorn. Our expectations were exceeded as Richard was an excellent host. The house is beautiful and we appreciated having everything we needed. The view from the back deck is absolutely stunning esp at sun set 😍. This is your home away from home.
