Cozy 600-sqft apartment with small fully-equipped kitchen and large front windows overlooking a lovely sitting porch under a redwood--all within two blocks of downtown Lafayette. The apartment is in the front half of a house and is completely separate with its own entrance. (The owner lives in the back.) The unit is in a very pretty part of Lafayette with BART (and easy access to Oakland and San Francisco) only a 12-minute walk away. All of downtown Lafayette is easily walkable and very safe, yet the unit feels very private and secluded with all the amenities one would need for a short stay. The apartment is ideally suited for two but for a small additional charge, we would accept a third person (e.g a child) who could use the living room sofa, which converts to a single bed, upon request.

Summary: Wonderful house and perfect for two. Had everything we needed. Hosts were fantastic and communicated a couple of times to make sure things were fine. Pretty redwood in front of house. Quiet street and a close walk to town. We liked Tutu's in Lafayette Circle for breakfast (only a .3 mile walk).

As the stay was a very important time and place for me as a solo … my only son was getting married and this location, charm and welcoming, warmth provided everything as a respite between wedding events. Summary: The “House under the Redwood Tree” was perfect for our stay. My wife and I were visiting our daughter and family in nearby Orinda. Charles is a wonderful host who graciously greeted us upon arrival. The house is perfectly furnished and located in a quiet residential area with ample parking. We hope to visit family again and would love staying there again.
