Positive: Located in a lovely old building right in the centre of Trieste so perfect for sightseeing and all the restaurants and bars. We had a room upgrade and the suite was really spacious, quiet and comfortable. The spa is terrific value and really excellent.

Negative: Access by car is confusing - there are so many restricted zones and one way streets. If they offer to park your car take the offer - even though it’s an extra €12 its well worth it! I can’t wait to see what fines I’ve managed to clock up….. Restaurant in the evening okay but there are loads of choices locally. Help with luggage on arrival was hard to find.

Positive: liked: Exceptional central location in Trieste; magnificent historic palazzo with a beautiful façade and impressive, spacious interiors.

Negative: Décor feels inconsistent and not up to Hilton style; our room wasn’t suitable for three adults; bed and pillows were uncomfortable; the room was dark and slightly humid; overall poor value for the rate.
