Summary: From the photographs on the website we could see this was somewhere we wanted to stay, but they did not do it justice as it is far better in real life. Perfectly located for York, the seaside, local museums and attractions, you have enough to keep you busy. The town is lovely with fantastic places to eat recommended by the owners, and within walking distance. Roger and Sally were the perfect hosts and run a fantastic smallholding with Highland Cows which is another reason we stayed there. If you choose to stay at the cottage it is very comfortable with everything you need, including a modern TV so you can sign into your internet TV accounts. This is somewhere I would 100% recommend and you will not be disappointed.

Summary: Very nice cottage. Clean and with everything one could hope for provided. Friendly owners. The cottage is situated in a very nice part of Yorkshire and so close to the main road from York to Scarborough that you don't have to drive very long to visit these places. And with Castle Howard practically round the corner we couldn't wish for more. We had a lovely time and would recommend this cottage to other couples.

Summary: Doodale Cottage is a high spec excellently presented and equipped cottage in a beautiful part of Yorkshire hosted excellently by Sally and Roger. On arrival you are welcomed with farm produce and home baking and our hosts have thought of everything you require for a self catering stay. A trip around the farm is a must. Information for the surrounding areas is plentiful with leaflets on everything and games, books and music are available for all tastes. We had a lovely stay at the cottage and would highly recommend it as a perfect base for visiting the surrounding towns and countryside. Everything was 5 star and we would definitely recommend this immaculate cottage. Wendy and Michael

Very well equipped cottage, spotlessly clean, nicely furnished, with everything you could want, in an excellent position, convenient for coast, moors, wolds and York. Sally and Roger are lovely, helpful hosts and their highland cattle are delightful. We much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Doodale Cottage.

Summary: My wife and I spent a marvellous week staying at Doodale Cottage. The property is immaculate, with absolutely everything catered for. It is spacious, peaceful, and every need has been allowed for. We have stayed in numerous cottages around the UK and this has to be the best so far. Sally and Roger are charming hosts, and happy to chat about their farm and the animals they keep, and to provide information about local eating places. They also provided a bottle of wine, scones, cream and jam, eggs and chocolate bars - all of which were gratefully received. The cottage is also ideally situated for the bus service into either York or Whitby, and the ride to Whitby is a real eye-opener ! I don't think that there is any way in which staying at this cottage can be improved upon. Fantastic !

Summary: We stayed here for one week. The accommodation was really first class. An picturesque old barn conversion, with all the modern conveniences. Lovely comfortable loft bedroom, with a great bed and linens. The place was spotless when we arrived, we were treated to homemade baking and preserves. Short drive to York, Park and Drive and well situated for all things east Yorkshire. We will definitely, make this our go to place for Yorkshire.

Summary: Simply beautiful cottage.

Summary: I’ve been coming to England every summer for many years, and I think Doodale Cottage is the best place I have ever stayed. The cottage feels brand new, every detail carefully considered, every window and every light well placed, every texture, from towels to floors to doors carefully chosen. Great bathroom. Great kitchen. Sally and Roger are the perfect hosts, superbly helpful and yet utterly discreet. The setting is a splendid hybrid of town and country, with cattle and chickens and fields in the back and a main road with excellent bus service right out front. I sailed back and forth between the cottage, visiting Whitby and York, hiking on the moors, and so on. The walk down to Malton was delightful and the food and shopping quite good. (I would particularly recommend visits to the Talbot Food Court, Suddaby’s for real Yorkshire beverages, Paleys for fruit and vegetables, and Woodall and Sons for a bit of old-fashioned and magical shopping.) Every morning I woke up in the cottage feeling that it must be holiday, not just a vacation, but Christmas or something akin. It was hard to leave, and I cannot wait to return.
