Positive: They were friendly and welcoming, the suite was clean and comfortable. The menu was fairly simple but good choices and the food was excellent. Reasonable prices and wine list and they were very helpful and flexible. Breakfast was good and the service throughout was excellent. It was beautifully quiet and peaceful.

Negative: The only thing that we weren't happy with was the sheets! The bottom sheet hadn't been ironed (possibly friendly for the environment) but it didn't fit the mattress, which wasn't big enough to keep it flat, so it wrinkled up badly. A minor thing but actually quite annoying. The other slight issue was the bath. Very stylish, but hard to get out of at our age and you couldn't reach the tap while in it (and nowhere to put the soap!) These were minor problems and on the whole we enjoyed our stay and would definitely think of coming again.

Summary: A great place for an overnight stay, peaceful and relaxed, with good food.

Positive: Superb setting. Very very quiet, total peace and relaxation. Very comfortable bed, immaculate room, great facilities

Negative: We had dinner. We had the hummus, tapenade etc with bread plus the charcuterie board to start, which were lovely. The main courses however, were very very disappointing. I do understand this, Nicolas is in the kitchen on his own. But the main courses are something out of a student house. The ‘cassoulet’ were some new potatoes in a tiny pot covered in a small amount of cheese and some specks of ham. My wife ordered what amounted to some ordinary toast with some cheese, tomatoes and olives. A student pizza. So that was a disappointment. If we knew, no problem, we may well have ordered anyway and expected to just have some cheese, charcuterie, perhaps a salad on the side and it would have been fine. But to have a full ‘menu’ including main courses which are very poor means we left feeling disappointed. Easily fixed. Offer confit de canard/ cassoulet which you can just open for a can (lots of amazing examples) and serve with a salad. Or email guests two days before their arrival, ask if they would like dinner, and then you can be prepared with some simple steaks, some fish, etc. Again, I do understand the logic. Being on your own in the kitchen means you have to limit the scope of the offering. But you can do it completely differently and produce the kind of food experience this wonderful location, service, rooms and general hospitality deserve.
