Positive: The place itself is stunning..with an old windmill right in the yard and a few meters ahead a restaurant with local food (not to mention the beer made by the host of this accommodation). The hosts were just amazing. They received us with a warm welcome and a homemade jar of jam and treated us as family. They showed us around their charming mill and were very kind with us from start till departure. We will definitely go back there because it was not just a stay, it was a heartwarmimg life experience. Thanks for everything!

Positive: The owners of De Rosmolen are fascinating people. Johan bought the windmill in 1980 and restored it to working order. Now in his 70s, he still tramps around his mill with great pride, using wind-power and traditional millstones to turn spelt into flour and selling it to local people. When we arrived, he threw open the door of the windmill and let us explore inside. Later during our stay we were able to see it in operation. Sandra and Johan were both extremely warm and hospitable, their welcome made the stay very special. When I asked about borrowing a bike, Johan got it out of his shed and checked it was in working order, so I was able to explore the surrounding area, as far as the Dutch border. The flat itself is spacious and comfortable, with a seating area and dining areas inside and outside. It's a loft with velux windows which have been fitted with insect screens, so it's possible to keep windows open at night. I guess that Johan did the renovations himself, I can see that a lot of thought went into details like the use of storage space. Convenient location for a day trip to Gent.
