Negative: Absolutely freezing when we arrived at the allotted time . Not a warm welcome at all . Didn’t get warm through out our 3 day stay even using the “ log burner “

Positive: Lovely cosy but spacious home, everything I needed for a couple of nights stay. Very good communication with the owner, I arrived late and was pleasantly surprised to be greeted with a lovely fire. I am often in the area and will definitely return. I have no hesitation to recommend.

Positive: Very comfortable in the cottage. Warm and snug on the chilly Yorkshire evenings. Everything we needed was provided and we appreciated the wine and biscuits left for us on our arrival. Beautiful views of the moors. The tiny village of Rosedale Abbey, just a mile and a bit from Dark Skies was lovely. There’s a good pub there too, called the Coach House Inn. Lots of history to absorb about the ironstone mining in this area and ruins to explore.

Negative: Perhaps an instruction book on operating the cooktop and microwave. We worked it out in the end but it was a bit complicated. Because the area around the cottage is farmland and sheep graze on the moors, there were flies to contend with. It goes with the territory I’m afraid, so make sure you pack fly spray.

Summary: Quiet, isolated, excellent accommodation, everything we needed. We loved it.
