Positive: The home is beautifully restored. We were extremely lucky to live there for two weeks. We enjoyed the quiet of our location, the deep history of the country and the friendly and helpful neighbours. We are interested in Roman history and found lots to enjoy. We also appreciated the in season mandarins, olives and dates!

Negative: Staying in the Medina was our choice but visitors should be aware that it is a very old enclave and getting around can be a challenge. SIRI gets confused too! Was it worth it? Yes!

Summary: This was a once in a lifetime experience for us. Many thanks to our hosts for making it possible.

Positive: This is an absolutely fantastic villa in the center of the Medina. Amal the hostess is incredibly friendly. We so enjoyed meeting her and having her show us around the neighborhood and share her life's experiences as a modern intellectual and liberated woman in Tunis. The villa is lovingly restored with perfection. The attention to traditional detail is extraordinary and took many years to accomplish. A magical gem! We stayed 4 nights and would highly recommend!

Positive: Stunningly renovated traditional house in the Medina area. An absolute gem. It felt like a privilege to stay there. Amel, the owner, was amazing. She couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. Even arranging a table for us at a fantastic NYE event. Above and beyond, this was a wonderful stay.

Positive: The house looked gorgeous and clean, gave me the feeling of being at home, and was in a very convenient spot within the Tunisian Casbah. Amal the host was very accommodating, If you prefer to organize trips to view the gorgeous green Tunisia, ask her to arrange for you to be taken by L'aarbi or Wadii those guys were awesome and very welcoming!

Positive: The villa is lovely, spacious and comfortable. we had a lovely stay . The kitchen is well enough stocked to do a bit of cooking if needed. situated in a nice neighborhood its close to a bakery where you can buy baguettes in the morning ( top of the lane to the left) and a few small stores where you can buy eggs , coffee etc , (top of the lane to the right) . TIP* From the top of the lane turn left on rue de Pacha, the souks are about a 15 minute walk along this road , where you will also find coffee shops, fast food takeaway, pizzas etc and some restaurants, it's a pleasant and interesting walk. if you follow the souks all the way to the bottom you will arrive at the top of AVE du France,l, where you can buy wine and beer in Maison de generate and the nearby monoprix . A bit further down in the same side you will find the theatre cafe / restaurant which serves good food at reasonable prices . Avoid like the plague the street side restruants on the opposite side .

Negative: Only niggle was the WIFI was weak in the bedrooms , perfectly good in the kitchen where we could watch netflix on our laptop , but would have been nice if we could have used the upstairs lounge for this . a fairly simple fix of adding the missing antenna on the router and perhaps installing an inexpensive repeater upstairs to boost the signal . apart from that absolutely no complaints . Some reviews mention that the villa is down a small dirty alley this is definitely not the case . It's down a small sweet cobbled lane .
