Positive: THE GARDEN AND SWIMMING POOL AND THE PRIVACY THAT DAR AHLAME CAN GIVE YOU IN A PEACEFUL COUNTRYSIDE SETTING ARE SECOND TO NONE. THE HOUSE IS HARD TO FIND AND I GOT LOST. HOWEVER, I DID NOT HAVE A SAT NAVIGATION AND DID NOT BUY A LOCAL SIM CARD WHERE THE HOUSE'S OWNERS WOULD BE ABLE TO DIRECT ME WHEN I WAS ON THE ROAD. THE DATA ON MY PHONE WOULD NOT WORK AND EXPENSIVE IN MOROCCO. IF YOU ARRIVE AT ESSAOUIRA AIRPORT AND RENT A CAR TO DRIVE TO DAR AHLAME, THE JOURNEY TIME TAKES UNDER 3 HOURS. WHEN YOU COME OUT OF THE AIRPORT, YOU CAN ONLY GO LEFT, SO FOLLOW THIS ROAD FOR ABOUT 3KM. YOU THEN COME ACROSS A SIGN AT A JUNCTION SAYING AGADIR LEFT, MARRAKECH, CASABLANCA RIGHT. YOU TURN RIGHT (YOU ARE NOW ON THE N1 WHICH YOU WILL FOLLOW FOR MOST OF THE JOURNEY). AFTER 3KM YOU TAKE THE FIRST EXIT TO STAY ON THE N1 (THE 3RD EXIT TAKES YOU INTO ESSAOUIRA CITY CENTRE IF YOU NEED A BANK, PETROL ETC, HOWEVER, I DID NOT NEED THE CITY CENTRE SO I TOOK THE FIRST EXIT. AFTER 20K YOU WILL COME TO A ROUNDABOUT, WHERE YOU TAKE THE 1ST EXIT AT THE ROUNDABOUT FOR AROUND 4KM. JUST BEFORE THE NEXT ROUNDABOUT, YOU WILL COME ACROSS A PETROL STATION (WHERE I FILLED UP) AND A FEW SHOPS AND EATING JOINTS (BROUGHT SOME TASTY GRILLED MEAT, FANTA, BREAD ETC.) MOVING ON AGAIN, AT THE ROUNDABOUT, YOU TAKE THE 2ND EXIT TO STAY ON THE N1 (THE FIRST EXIT GOES TOWARD MARRAKECH) THE NEXT ROUNDABOUT WILL NOT BE FOR 103KM SO BE PREPARED FOR A BIT OF A DRIVE AFTER 15 MINUTES I RAN INTO POLICE STANDING IN THE ROAD WITH A SPEED CAMERA DEVICE. MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT GOING OVER 60KM AS YOU APPOACH THEM. YOU WILL GO THROUGH A FEW HIGH STREETS WITH SHOPS, PETROL STATIONS ETC. ALONG THE N1.FINALLY, I REACH THE LAST ROUNDABOUT ON THE JOURNEY AT A SMALL TOWN CALLED BOUGUEDRA. TAKE THE 2ND EXIT STAYING ON THE N1. (THERE IS A SHALL PETROL STATION AT THE THIRD EXIT AND THAT EXIT TAKES YOU ON A FAST ROUTE TO CASABLANCA, OUALIDA, AND SAFI) THE REST OF THE JOURNEY ROUTE CONTINUES UNDERNEATH IN THE NEXT BOX.

Negative: WHEN I HAD TO LEAVE. I WANTED TO STAY LONGER. SO AT THE BOUGUEDRA ROUNDABOUT TAKE THE 2ND EXIT STAYING ON THE N1. NOW THIS IS WHERE THE JOURNEY GETS TRICKY BECAUSE 30KM FURTHER UP THE N1 YOU NEED TO TURN OFF THE N1, ONTO THE P2302. THE P2302 IS A VERY SMALL ROAD AND IS NOT SIGN POSTED. I MISSED IT AND GOT LOST AND NOT MANY PEOPLE SPEAK ENGLISH IN THE AREAS I WAS LOST IN. THIS IS WHERE A LOCAL SIM CARD TO CONTACT THE OWNERS OF THE DAR AHLAME WOULD BE GOOD. However, I HAD NO LOCAL SIM... 4 HOURS AFTER GETTING LOST A TAXI DRIVER WHO JUST HAPPENED TO BE GOING TO OULAD MHAYA AND WAS ABLE TO PHONE THE OWNERS WHEN WE GOT THERE, TO DIRECT US TO DAR AHLAME, SAVED MY TRIP. ONCE YOU LEAVE THE LAST ROUNDABOUT AT BOUGUEDRA, THE P2302 IS A 30-MINUTE DRIVE, DRIVING BETWEEN 60/80KM.. AFTER 15 MINUTES YOU WILL PASS THROUGH A LITTLE HIGH STREET. JUST KEEP ON GOING.15 MORE MINUTES OR SO, JUST AS YOU APPROACH THE P2302 YOU WILL SEE WHAT LOOKS LIKE A WHITE LIGHTHOUSE ON YOUR LEFT. ON YOUR RIGHT YOU WILL PASS A SIGNBOARD SAYING EL JADIDA. THE BOTTOM PART OF THE SIGNBOARD IS MISSING AND IT COULD BE WHAT WAS UNDERNEATH WAS THE P2302 DIRECTION. BUT ALL YOU WILL SEE WRITTEN ON THIS SIGNBOARD WHICH IS WHITE IN COLOUR, IS EL JADIDA. THERE IS ALSO A BARBER SHOP ON YOUR RIGHT BEFORE YOU TURN LEFT. NEXT ROAD ON YOUR LEFT IS THE P2302. ITS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE N1 ROAD BUT YOU WANT THE LEFT SIDE. AS YOU TURN LEFT YOU SHOULD SEE A CORNER SHOP ON YOUR RIGHT. THIS SHOP IS ON THE N1, BUT LEFT SIDE OF THE OUTSIDE OF THE SHOP IS ON THE P2302. NOW YOU ARE JUST 10 MINUTE'S DRIVE FROM DAR AHLAME. YOU SHOULD PASS A WHITE SIGNBOARD WITH P2302 WRITTEN AT THE TOP OF IT. SO AFTER 10 MINUTES, LOOK OUT FOR A ROAD ON YOUR RIGHT.. FURTHER DOWN THIS ROAD YOU WILL SEE WHAT LOOKS LIKE A YELLOW TOWER OR TALL WATER STORAGE UNIT. TURN INTO THIS ROAD. THEN, NEXT ROAD ON THE RIGHT. THEN FIRST HOUSE ON THE LEFT IS DAR AHLAME. YOU WILL SEE THE GATES OF THE HOUSE MATCHING THE ONES IN THE PICTURES OF BOOKING.
