Positive: Organising check in caused a lot of unnecessary stress. The contact details were not up-to-date and neither us nor booking.com could get hold of anyone from the cottage for a long time. Eventually I heard from the owner the evening before we were due to check in. No apologies for the stress or difficulty, followed by a host of questions asking why we wanted to stay that had some sort of inference that we wouldn't be given check in details if we didn't give acceptable answers. The cottage itself was fine, although we were left a few mostly used up toilet rolls with a few sheets left on each which felt cheap and slightly mean. The hand soap and washing up liquid was all the cheapest you can buy and had been watered down. The floors weren't particularly clean and the bed linen and pillows were old and poor quality. Heating was on constant so it was a choice of incredibly hot or turning every accessible radiator off which wasn't ideal. Sadly I didn't feel the owner was approachable about these issues following the experience with checking in. Generally the accommodation was fine and gave us a base for what we needed.
