Summary: This place has gone so far downhill, it's sad. We loved it when it was the Clam Digger and also when it was Pine Knoll Shores Inn. It's definitely not the same and has lost a lot of the "family feel" that it once had. The restaurant and tiki bar are now separate from the hotel and both are awful, and the pool and hot tub need a lot of work. The hotel nickels and dimes its guests, and is not straightforward about any of the changes that will affect their experience. You have to figure things out on your own, after the fact. If you want breakfast, go up the street to one of the several other restaurants and steer clear of the hotel restaurant. They're not serving anything that's on the menu and won't tell you that until youve already sat down and ordered drinks. The food that is on the menu is not even in the building. Instead, they'll charge you almost $50 for two people to eat from what they call a "buffet." There's barely anything in the "buffet," and what is there is cold and stuck to the pans. This was our favorite place for almost 13 years. We will never go back.

Summary: We stay here all the time it’s my favorite place. This time around the only two things that didn’t make me happy were being charged to park our car every night, $20 a night. We were there for 3 nights, very disappointed in this. The other thing that i didn’t like was, the room was not that clean. Sand on the floor, it’s supposed to be cleaned after every stay so there shouldn’t be sand on the floor.

Summary: The hotel offers great access and excellent views of the beach. Its also located in the less crowded Pine Knolls area. The staff was very nice and helpful. The bathroom is cramped with a separate sink away from the shower with no door. (Personal preference) I love the privacy of one separate bathroom and a door. The one thing I love about the hotel is everyone gets an ocean view room off a nice balcony. Our experience since we were on the 6th floor was noisy I think due to the AC located on the roof. It sounded like a cello or something to me. In all fairness the hotel may have moved us to a lower floor but we didnt ask. If the balcony experience means a lot to you like it does us. Id recommend asking for a lower floor. That's what we intend to do next time we stay.

Summary: The hotel room was very cold and we were told not to touch the air condition that made it very uncomfortable to be in the room the door jammed when opening and the key constantly did not work we had to go to the front desk three times to get it reset in the bathroom is very small.

Summary: It’s hard to say anything negative for the price point. But, with that being said, the hotel is outdated and in need of some improvement. They are trying to get it fixed up but have a ways to go. The ac units were barely keeping up with the warm temps, the drains of the ac units were leaking onto the balcony, they only clean rooms upon request, we ran out of towels and then they didn’t have any at the front desk. All in all the place isn’t bad. For the price, it’s hard to beat, but I definitely won’t be going back. We went for 4 nights, wish I would’ve just stayed 2 nights at a nicer place.

Summary: The employees were all very friendly, quick to respond to any concern or request, and even anticipated our every need. Our room, though, was less than stellar. The fridge was not cold, and the water pressure was little more than a sprinkle. Our floor was sandy when we checked in- given it was at the beach, though, so it could not be helped much. We had to wait 5-10 minutes for an elevator sometimes, and the morning of check-out, there were no luggage carts available. The walk to the beach required traversing about 25 stairs, which was difficult to do on the narrow walkway when everyone has chairs, coolers, beach bags, etc.

Summary: It was wonderful. Staff was amazing. Room was clean. The food in the restaurant was amazing. Wil be returning soon. The view. Wow! Breath taking.

Summary: I was a in a king handicap room and really liked the space. The shower did not drain well at all...always had standing water. The bed was soooo comfortable and slept so well!!! I did not care for the $20/day parking that was not even covered. I felt that was a little uncalled for. They seemed to be under staffed, especially at the front desk and housekeeping. This is my 3rd or 4th time and I will continue to return, as I like the location, room and tiki bar!

Summary: I took a quick weekend trip with my family and it was a great stay. We never left the entire time there because it had the beach, pool, and restaurant all on site. It was cute, clean, renovated, and the staff were all helpful and kind. This is our third visit there and we will be back again.

Summary: The view is really the highlight of this hotel—it’s beautiful, and there’s easy beach access with chairs and umbrellas available on a first-come, first-serve basis. That part was a nice touch. However, the room definitely needs a deep clean. When I walked in and took my shoes off, I already had sand on my feet before even going to the beach. The floors weren’t well cleaned, and there were visible signs this is a pet-friendly hotel—like dried-up pee stains on the floor. The bathroom is also extremely small and tight. Another thing to be aware of: while the hotel advertises free parking online, I was charged a $21.24 “small fee” at check-in that turned out to be for parking. It would’ve been more transparent to just say that upfront. Also, if you’re bringing a pet, know there’s a $75 pet fee—even though they advertise as pet-friendly, the fee isn’t clearly mentioned until you’re checking in. I didn’t try the breakfast, so I can’t speak on that, but overall, while the location and view are great, the cleanliness and lack of transparency about extra fees were disappointing.
