Positive: Really cute, cosy & clean. Loved the fireplace, wish there were more logs/kindlin. Loved the recipes on the walls. Beds were really comfy. Garden was massive.

Negative: I couldn’t figure out how to get the hot water for the bath.

Positive: This cottage has plenty of history and the name Railway cottage is a clue why. The library in the dining room has many fascinating books including a wealth of railway travel, history and technical books. Just as well, it turns out, as a rail tour special hauled by two type 37 diesel electric locos pulled through Brora and past the cottage, rumble and growl included! Terrific and I was able to read all about the technical aspects of the 37s. Which is a long winded way of saying thanks to our hosts for a delightful, warm, well equipped and as before satisfying stay in the village while we visit family. Highly recommended.

Positive: The cottage is very comfortable. The heating is very efficient and it has a well equipped small kitchen. It is well located and there is plenty to do in the area. The library in the house is awesome!!!!

Negative: I would really have appreciated having at least a loo upstairs where the bedrooms are - it's a long walk in the dark to the loo in the middle of the night!

Positive: A wonderful railwayman's house with excellent facilities that still maintains its historical significance very well. The heating was welcome too, given the weather and the roomy accommodation gave us comfy evenings too. In the dining room there is a fantastic library with a great range of books, including some excellent railway themed tomes. Given the weather we weren't able to use the garden but in the better months it would be a very welcome amenity.

Summary: Characterful, comfy, warm and welcoming after a long drive.
