Your vacation to Wrightsville Beach will be all about sun, fun, and relaxation in this cozy 3 BR, 1.5 Bath Beach Cottage. This home is located just a short walk to the beach. Avoid all of the busyness and traffic of the main stretch of Wrightsville Beach in the quiet and family-friendly community of South Harbor Island. Harbor Island is in the heart of Wrightsville Beach and one of the most sought-after locations in Southeastern North Carolina. This area is known for its quiet nature, convenient access to all the local attractions, and is extremely family friendly.
When you arrive at the cottage, there are three convenient entrances to the house, via the front door, garage, or back door. The rocking chair front porch leads directly into a spacious living area, including a TV equipped with a Roku and large sectional sofa, perfect for relaxing to watch a movie, or looking directly out a large widow over Banks Channel. Also in the main living area is a dining room with comfortable sitting for up to 6 people to enjoy dinner, and a charming kitchen perfect for preparing dinner or sandwiches for a day at the beach. Off the living room is a sundeck overlooking beautiful Banks Channel, perfect for enjoying morning coffee, dinner, or an evening glass of wine.
Down the hallway are three bedrooms. The master bedroom is outfitted with a king size bed, and the second and third bedrooms each have their own queen bed. Full size bathroom includes a combo shower and tub, and the downstairs half bath serves as a second bathroom option, with adjacent enclosed outdoor shower.
Upon waking in the morning, enjoy your morning coffee on the rocking chair front porch or side deck overlooking Banks Channel. Once you are ready for the beach, load up the beach wagon we provide with boogie boards and beach chairs, which are also included. Then, take a short walk across the bridge and enjoy a day in the sun and sand, or launch your kayak steps away from the cottage at public water access. Upon your return home, enjoy showering off the sand in the enclosed outdoor shower. The home is located just off the Wrightsville Beach Loop, which is a well known 2.5 mile walking/running trail with beautiful views of the water. Take the kids over to Wrightsville Beach park to play on the playground, or for a quick tennis match or basketball game. Also just a short walk away, are numerous restaurant options, including Tower 7, Trolley Stop, Flying Machine Brewery, and Zeke’s. Also located within walking distance is Roberts’ Grocery Store, an ice cream shop, and numerous places to shop!

Summary: Well… not exactly cozy! This home was actually quite larger than I had imagined. If you want a place right on the water with lots of charm, space and modern amenities, this is the spot for you. This 1940s beach house has kept the cozy cottage feel times before, but has been updated in a very beautiful way. I especially loved the lovely polished floors, crown molding in the living space and gorgeous base boards. There were several living spaces to choose from which was perfect for a group. The icing on the cake was there was a fully stocked garage/basement with beach toys for all ages, umbrellas, chairs and even a cart. You won’t regret booking this gem.

Summary: The cottage was perfect in every way…peaceful, comfortable, welcoming…it felt like home. We loved the spaciousness and room to spread out. The porches were wonderful, with great views of the water. All the neighbors were so friendly. It felt like a super safe, close knit community. Enjoyed all the extras that our hosts provided, including a huge welcome basket filled with goodies, ample towels (and beach towels), and the well stocked coffee bar. We enjoyed having the bikes to ride around the island, as well as having access to the beach gear, including beach chairs we could use for our sunset viewing in the nearby park. The beds were very comfortable, and we could always depend on a great shower with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The location was also perfect. We walked to the beach every day, and it was so easy to get out and see all the sights. Thank you so much Helen and Larry for a wonderful stay!

Summary: The only reason I gave accuracy of listing a 4 was because it was better than expected! This house has more space than you think. The entire basement is a great living space, especially for kids. It could be considered an extra bedroom. We love the old school charm of this cottage. The house had everything we needed. The owners were wonderful to work with and made us feel right at home. The water views are so nice. Easy access to the water for paddle-boarding, etc. just across the street. Quiet, beautiful area just outside the hustle and bustle of the beach. Quick walk or bike ride to the action. Would stay here again!

Summary: We loved our stay at Helen and Larry's beach cottage. Harbor Island is beautiful and quiet with lovely views of the water and public water access. There are tons of toys and games and beach items for young children. The beach supplies- chairs, umbrella, cart are all in amazing condition. You can tell this is a family home with a lot of love, would definitely recommend!
