Currently under repairs. ....Just out the door enjoy hiking, wading the creek, campfire pit, gas grill, or just reading a book in the shade! Secluded but very easy access. The Azalea Studio Suite is one of two completely separate suites in the Yellow Cottage. This suite has a king bed, efficiency kitchen, bath with tub/shower, a small back porch facing the creek along with a large picnic area. Also access to gas grill, campfire pit, trails, creeks, fish pond, and picnic areas all on a 300 acre retreat which is shared with only 2 other houses. There are also horses on the property.
Close to the internationally acclaimed Penland School of Craft, the property location is also only about 3 miles from the historic district of the town of Spruce Pine, NC and an hour from either Asheville, NC, Boone, NC, or Johnson City, TN. We're centrally located between Mt. Mitchell (highest peak east of the Mississippi), Roan Mountain and Grandfather Mountain.

Summary: We were here for leaf season so we didn't stay around all day but when we were there it was really nice and quite. Horses on property were nice. It feels like the country but close to shopping and eating. The bed was large I think king size. It was firmer than im used to. Sheets and blankets were clean. Seems to have everything you would need. Extra towels / dish towels ect were in bottom cabinet by bathroom door. Plenty of toilet paper and paper towels. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Summary: This was the perfect stay for my two week Penland workshop. The kitchen had everything I needed to make meals. The bed was very comfortable and the apartment clean. It was a ten minute drive to Penland. Very quiet and peaceful place to sleep.

Summary: The unit we stayed in had dead bugs all over. They were falling out of the curtains when we closed them, under the bed, and even some on the bed. The tub had issues draining and there was left over pizza from someone else in the fridge. We had to call upon arrival because no check in instructions were provided and she had forgot to call. The heater worked but was hard to turn on and loud so it was very cold throughout the night. The home is a split unit that has a shared door between the two units which made it so you could hear a lot of noise. The owner of the unit was nice but unfortunately the place was not.

Summary: There was a Lil Bit of everything in Spruce Pines. My husband and I enjoyed the property, fishing, shopping and dining out. A very quiet And peaceful setting. Our joy of the trip was being toured by a beagle name Lil Bit that loves people and fishing as much as we do. We thoroughly enjoyed a lil bit of his daily lifestyle. Can’t wait to visit again!
