Summary: We stayed for 2 nights while attending the CT Sea Music Festival. It was a short distance away from Essex by car. Breakfast came with the booking, although when they handed us a menu with prices, we were a bit confused. Our room was in a seperate building out back up a hill on the property. We drove and parked behind the buiding where we stayed, but walked down and back for breakfast. Our room had an outside porch in the back. There was a dinner option, but we wanted to eat nerer to the festival. I would stay there again.

Summary: The building and grounds need maintenance. There's rotting window sills and rain damage on the ceiling, spots of bleach on the carpets and the doorknob of a closet came off in my hand. The TV in the room is incredibly small, the size of a computer screen. You don't come to a hotel to watch TV but like showers, you expect a nice experience. The breakfasts were ok, but not great.

Summary: While it had "historic inn" charm, all the accoutrements and hardware were modern and thoughtfully installed and presented. The bathroom was especially luxurious and even included a large jacuzzi tub. The large room and bathroom were impeccably clean and though we eschewed maid service by displaying a Do Not Disturb card we returned to our room to discover a neatly wrapped bag of fresh towels placed outside the door. The driveway leading uphill to the outbuilding we shared with perhaps four other guest rooms was a bit rough but any modern vehicle could easily traverse it at a slow pace. The soundproofing was exceptional and we only sensed the presence of other guests by observing their parked cars and meeting them while traversing the charming garden path to the main building and dining room.
