Positive: The property itself is beautiful and feels very historic, a former convent with lovely renovations on a massive scale. The cloisters, dining room and the gardens are very impressive. The indoor pool was lovely. The daily breakfast was excellent.

Negative: Sadly, the staff was uneven. Some were wonderful, some were not. We were given a room for three nights with very little light from the tiny convent windows, so I asked if we could have a room overlooking the garden, with sliding glass doors. We were told no, a wedding had booked every room, and we could not swap rooms. The outdoor pool had underwater bugs that attack, photo attached. The hammam was out of service. Also, there is a large, unsightly garbage pile right by the entrance to the property that downgrades the upscale, 5-star image.

Summary: A beautiful property that could do more to uphold its 5-star status.

Positive: The building is wonderful. The restaurant is a charming space and the food was truly excellent. We ate both dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Their pastry chef, in particular, produces outstanding dishes.

Negative: Everything was good. A charging point for the electric car would have been useful.

Positive: From the moment I arrived at Espinheiro, I knew I was in for something special. Check-in was smooth and welcoming - room was spacious with a nice garden view. The amenities were exceptional and breakfast buffet was another highlight, featuring everything from fresh tropical fruits and made-to-order omelets to locally baked pastries and fresh-pressed juices. What truly set this hotel apart, though, was the service. Every staff member, from the concierge to the housekeeping team, went above and beyond. It is a place I’ll return to without hesitation and recommend to anyone seeking a memorable stay.
