Positive: Excellent location for Les Eyzies. Well equipped self catering.

Negative: Our accommodation was impacted by noise from the weir on the stream that runs through the property. However, having looked at the property online beforehand we realised this might be the case. Did not detract from the excellence of the accommodation.

Summary: Very welcoming host, ideal location for local facilities and to explore the area.

Positive: Quiet, very comfortable and well equipped for self-catering. A few minutes’ walk to Boulangerie and a few more to the village with other shops, restaurants and places of interest. Sander was always friendly and helpful.

Negative: Dark to come back in the evenings. And the first sight of the place is a disused forge, which, whilst it turned out to be really interesting and with potential for restoration, the sight of the derelict building doesn’t fill newcomers with confidence on arrival - so don’t be put off by it!

Positive: Set in spectacular grounds with lovely swimming pool, river, lake and weir. Excellent location at heart of Dordogne but away from busiest areas. Great for cycling along the rivers. Les Eyzies has good restaurants at every price point. La Maison was the best.

Negative: We could not fault the property.

Summary: Comfortable stay with everything we needed, set in beautiful grounds in an excellent location.

Positive: This is a lovely place. The setting in the grounds of an ancient forge is a delight. Our gite had a terrace in front with a stream running past and our own little bridge. The gite is well equipped and comfortable. The swimming pool is unusually large, 15-20m, and heated. It's convenient for many of the most important Dordogne sites. Anna, the manager, was charming and helpful. She speaks very good English and working German.

Negative: Nothing.

Positive: We stayed here last year and liked it so much we had to come back. The well-equipped properties sit in their own grounds so feel private. At the same time, the centre of Les Eyzies is less than 10 minutes walk away. And the boulangerie and small supermarket are much closer than that. Anna, who met us, speaks excellent English, was super helpful and a great source of advice.

Negative: One tiny thing: if the old gate into the grounds that’s opposite the boulangerie could be made to open it would make the walk for the morning croissants even shorter :)

Positive: The set-up with our own deck in a shared beautiful garden by a stream and a waterfall was excellent. The pool was lovely. The bedroom, en suite and living room were excellent. The privacy we enjoyed (in early October) was much appreciated.

Negative: Correspondence had indicated a specific window of time to collect keys. It was only when we were into that window of time the owner seemed to be concerned that I had not indicated our exact time of arrival. The owner did not speak English but her husband was able to explain the set-up. We needed to request washing-up liquid and laundry powder (of which we were given only for one wash). There was no soap for the shower or in the kitchen. Only one toilet roll so we had to purchase extra. No information about nearby facilities like grocery store or bakery.

Summary: We very much enjoyed our stay at this beautiful place, with lovely garden and short walk to town

Positive: Very spacious and well equipped self catering property. Perfectly located in Les Eyzies: bakery two minutes walk, small grocery under five minutes, all the restaurants and bars no more than 10 minutes. We didn’t use the swimming pool but it looked very nice. I think we’ll be coming back!
