Positive: Reception staff was pleasant
Negative: No heating and oil filled radiator and standard heating didn't work. Shower tray filled up with water so a quick shower. Door latch on back to front. No cooked breakfast as pictured website. I think if i was told the expectations before I booked my review would be different.

Positive: Location was perfect.
Negative: Not clean at all. When we checked in, we found out that flush is not working. So we asked on reception and they informed that it’s just happened yesterday. They didn’t inform us or didn’t arrange something else. Instead, they gave us another room which was not cleaned as well. Bin was full. Towels were still behind the bathroom door. We went on reception twice, but no one was there. No handwash in our room.
Summary: Not good

Positive: Beautiful location. The room was spacious and had a great view. Staff was friendly.
Negative: The hotel needs a bit of fixing here and there. The reception and breakfast area was smelly and in need of ventilation. The breakfast was extremely disappointing. Close to no options.
Summary: Great location

Positive: Stayed for 3nights with my son in a twin bedded room which was very clean, really comfortable bed and nice white fluffy towels. Had everything we needed with coffee/tea facilities, television etc.
Negative: Sadly it is very run down and needs a lot of love and attention put back into it as it is in a prime position, in beautiful grounds if they were kept up together and close to the lake.
Summary: It suited us as it was a short stopover whilst visiting friends although breakfast was included, it was very basic, not

Positive: What an interesting place! I'd not visited since the early 2000s and was looking forward to seeing the place again. The site is as spectacular as I remember, set down a forested drive and the Tavern has lovely views to Colliford lake. The pod was clean enough (bedding anyway) and the staff member that i saw outside was very attentive at getting me some extra milk pots when asked. The shower was warm and powerful.. Being intrigued about the running of the site, I Googled it and see that it is currently for sale. I desperately hope that new owners are found and that I can return to find the Tavern itself cleaned up and full of guests once again. I would still recommend the pod or camping on site as it is a great location.
Negative: It is as though the site closed during Covid-19 and has never opened up again properly. The building is in need of a refresh, sign missing in the car park, leaflets in display faded and three years out of date. There appeared to be two members of staff on-site but not based in the main building and this was manned on demand. The member of staff that I met in reception when I arrived spoke poor English and had no passion or love for being in the hospitality industry - it felt as though the site was being run by the security guard. The toilet block was once a pleasant building with separate areas for mens, ladies, pot wash, veg prep and disabled facilities. This was mostly locked with the only access to the disabled toilet and shower for users of the pods. This area was dirty, floor wet, toilet paper damp, cobwebs and someone else's shower gel in the shower. No hot water on the sink and the water heater knob had been snapped off. I was met in reception when I went in for breakfast and was escorted to the old bar area where a 'buffet' had been prepared for me. There were two large jugs at the end of the bar, one with milk, one with orange juice. Upon closer inspection, the jugs were covered in dust and when I picked the milk up there was a crust on the surface. The toaster was powered by an extension lead across items stacked up inside the bar.
Summary: A lovely place with so much potential but in dire need of some love. Go there to camp or pod!

Positive: This was a real adventure I'm sure the team running the site are new and are in the process of making changes. The room was spacious, clean, well appointed and very comfortable. We were the only people staying ion the hotel, a bit of a shining moment on arrival but the staff (singular) was really nice if a bit shy. Continental breakfast needs a bit of finnesing.
Negative: It was empty, the bar was not open, I think waiting on a new license I suspect, not really fully ready to take guests.
Summary: I will definitely stay here again, I'm really interested to see how the hotel develops.
