Positive: Staff made our stay. It felt genuine and not forced. Food was outstanding and the mattress … wow!

Negative: I’m having to really dig here but there was a dirty coffee cup that had been put back next to the kettle and dust on the beams. We asked to extend our stay but luxury suit was the only one available due to the work being carried out in the spa. This was £800.00. The hotel was very quiet and feel as a gesture we should have been offered a discounted rate as I am sure the room would have remained empty on the Sunday evening.

Summary: Loved it. We will be returning once the work has been completed.

Positive: We were after a one-night stay as we were walking Hadrian's Wall, and The Close Hotel delivered what we wanted as it was right on the trail. The accommodation is luxurious, the food great and the surroundings, being a golf course, are super pleasing to the eye. The staff are the main benefit to a stay here – super accommodating, friendly and eager to please. We were not disappointed in any way with our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and long to return.

Negative: Nothing. A superb stay.
