Description:
Experience privacy and comfort in a newly renovated, spacious english basement. Kickback in the plush couch and enjoy your favorite streaming services. Get some rest and relaxation after a day of touring the city in our luxurious queen size bed. Clean&Cozy is close enough to beat traffic to and from a redskins game and grab 15min Uber to a boozy brunch or bar crawl on H ST! The perfect listing for couples or lone adventurer looking to avoid expensive hotels but not willing to sacrifice comfort.
The space:
Cozy yet open space. The place gets a decent amount of natural and recessed lighting. Although it is a studio layout there are distinct spaces for the bedroom, living room, etc. There is a fully stocked mini fridge, assorted teas, cordless kettle, dinner table/working space. WIFI. 55" TV with fire tv. Netflix, Hulu, Sling, and Spotify subscriptions. Full Bath. Queen bed. Comfortable couch. Plush Ruggery.
Guest access:
Entrance from the front of the house via free street parking or ride sharing arrival:
Climb the first flight of stairs walk to you left. On the right side of the house there will be a wooden door giving entrance to the back yard of the house. Once in the backyard there will be a staircases leading downstairs to a red door and your entrance to Clean&Cozy.

Backyard:
The backyard is pretty large.You’re welcome to use it. It’s a peaceful space to grab some fresh air (outdoor furniture will be an option soon) the steps or grass box are the only options for sitting outside at the moment. The area is fenced 3/4 of the way around for added privacy from neighbors. The backyard is a shared space for all guest.
Other things to note:
Ceilings are 7’ but there is a beam in the center of the apartment if you’re 6’5” or above you may need to watch your head. It’s caught me a few times lol
Neighborhood:
A typical neighborhood on the east side of the river. More mature community, many row homes, and super residential. It is not as gentrified as other places in dc but guests that are familiar with similar areas will feel right at home.
The neighbors are pretty friendly and will talk your ear off if you let them. A friendly wave or head nod and they’ll get that your not much in a talking mood.
Getting around:
Access to the Blue/Silver line metro are available via two metro stations both walking distance from Clean&Cozy. Capitol Heights metro is the closest (7 min bus ride / 15 min walk). Benning Rd Metro is the other (12 min bus ride / 19 min walk).
Street parking is free, however out of state plates cannot be parked on any DC residential street overnight on weekdays.
1 private parking spot is available in the backyard per stay.
A DC metro card is $2. I have an extra one for my guests to use during their stay but will charge a fee if lost.
House rules:
No shoes on the rugs please. They're super comfortable so socks and toes allowed :)
Please don’t lock yourself out. Only lock the bottom lock when you are inside Clean&Cozy. When leaving do not lock the bottom lock. Use the app to lock the door. Please let the smart lock help you out.
Please don’t smoke inside the property to keep the unit as clean and cozy as you found it.
Clean&Cozy is currently only allowing a maximum of 2 guests to stay with us. Please follow our rules. If it is discovered that more than 2 guests have joined the reservation we will assess a minimum charge of $500. No extra overnight guest.
Lockout fee: $50 per occurrence
Smoking fee: $65 per occurrence

Summary: The VRBO is clean and very conviently located near the Metro. Neighorhood is friendly and the free parking spot is a lifesaver. The only down side was that you can hear everything the family upstairs is doing. If you plan on being out late or up late, then this shouldn't be an issue, but if you go to bed before 11pm you will probably be kept awake.

Summary: I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The property was clean and even smelled nice! NJay was a great host and easy to communicate with. I stayed for a little over 2 weeks by myself and felt safe. The parking seems a bit obscure but it was very convenient. The neighbourhood is quiet and private and not far from most key spots in the DMV.

Summary: I enjoyed my stay here at the property, the host was very responsive when I had any questions or concerns. Everything was neat and clean and well maintained, the neighborhood was nice and quiet with friendly neighbors. Very accessible to the metro stations and overall I had a nice experience here and definitely will be staying here again.

Summary: The property was just as described. A simple, clean, studio. The owners left lovely little gifts to help make the stay more comfortable. They responded to my messages very quickly. The area was sketchy but quiet. I was surprised when I placed my reservation at checkout that I needed to pay an additional $89 for insurance. I wasn't expecting that additional cost.

Summary: This property met our needs & was clean & cozy as the name suggests. Close fifteen minute walk to the closest metro station & that was really convenient. The bathroom is a bit of a tight squeeze but very manageable for a few days. No big deal. Thank you!

Summary: This unit met my needs. It was exactly as pictured and the bed was comfy. The space didn’t feel cramped and the couch was comfy as well. Some minor issues though. First the pros: exactly as pictured, comfy bed and surprisingly the unit didn’t feel cramped at all. Relatively short walk to a metro station. Cons: my main gripe was that I could hear everything from the people upstairs. Not sure if that was the owners or other Vrbo guests but yes I could hear their convos about juice, what they were watching on tv, pretty much everything. I guess it’s my own fault because the listing does clearly say basement but with Vrbo I always expect to have a stay that does not feel like I’m just in a room in the host’s home. I definitely felt like that this stay. It wasn’t constant but it definitely made me feel weird. It was nothing to be done about it either because how entitled would it have been of me to message the host and say can you tell the people upstairs I can hear EVERYTHING. That’s their home or space so I have to respect that. Other minor gripes was although the shower itself had plenty of room, using the toilet was very uncomfy and tight for my 6’ 230 lbs frame. The entry way to the unit was always caked with a muddy mess. A few times on the Netflix I got the message too many people are watching at once do you want to upgrade. Neighborhood is completely residential but that was fine. Overall it met my needs but I don’t know if I would stay again because of hearing everything

Summary: We enjoyed our stay at this property. The location was great and it was very clean. The bathroom was lovely that a little small it provided us the space we needed for our stay in DC. The host was very responsive so if you have any trouble he responds pretty quickly, the only snappy we ran into was getting into the property but that was in part my learning curve. Thank you!

Summary: The rental is as pictured, it has an open and light feeling for a basement suite. Super comfy bed. We did need to contact NJay concerning the lock once and he responded immediately. Knowing our vehicle was parked off the street was a real plus. We walked to the Metro Station each day (10 mins) and never had to worry about parking downtown. I would recommend this property.

Summary: This weekend (4/20/23), My Fiancé and I really enjoyed our stay ay this very cute and cozy property! This property is exactly as it is described and the host Njay, was more than welcoming and responsive to our needs. We are vegan and had no idea about the vegan places in the area and beyond. Njay sent a listing with suggestions. I am highly recommending to stay here if quiet and clean is what you are seeking!!
