The Cottage on the Hill was built in 1903. We've restored its natural beauty but also added modern amenities. It has original pine floors, some shiplap ceilings and walls.
Just 1 mile from Magnolia Silos and Baylor University.
With two large bedrooms, one bath, full kitchen, and spacious living room/dinning room, Clay Oak Cottage will bring relaxation to any stay. Our large shaded backyard and front porch will bring you coming back for many family getaways, girl trips, & sporting events.
The space
As a Baylor alumnus, we love everything Baylor! We have watched Waco grow into a charming vibrant city, thanks to Chip & Joanna! From silos, unique restaurants, many boutiques to shop at, and outdoor parks along the River. Waco is a place we like to escape to from the big city with family or friends. We're within minutes of all major Waco attractions.
Clay Oak Cottage will bring the best escape, comfort, and Tranquility. Its name was inspired by the old red oak tree in the front yard. Expect comfortable beds, spacious bathroom, and amazing backyard to sit and relax. Kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you will need with large dinning and living room areas where you will create lasting memories.

We do have cameras in the outside of the property for security. Also motion lights in the driveway at night.

Summary: This cottage was a wonderful option for our stay in Waco. We were there for 2 days mid week and had a great time. Its location was convenient to all the sightseeing I had planned and the cottage was very comfortable. Our pug loved it as well, especially the fenced backyard and the front porch for relaxing. Rebecca was a great host, lots of info in advance and quick to respond to questions.

Summary: Visited Waco for an event at the convention center. This place was awesome. The host was very attentive and provided us with recommendations for food and activities. Home had everything we needed for our stay and was very pet friendly. If you like to bike or run, the hike and bike trails along the river were great.

Summary: We had the best weekend staying in Clay Oak Cottage! The home offers everything needed for a relaxing weekend. It has comfortable beds and linens, incredible kitchen and a beautiful backyard. Communication was easy and the host was very accommodating. We plan on staying here again…it’s definitely a 5 star location, home and experience!

Summary: What a lovely little cottage for our mother/daughter/aunt trip! Bright, airy, refreshing, quaint, and spacious. Exactly as pictured but even better. Such attention to detail. Perfectly located, everything we planned to do (Magnolia Market and restaurants) within a 5 minute drive. We didn’t have a chance to use the backyard space but the front porch swing and rockers were very inviting/relaxing. We took Rebecca’s advice on restaurants: had a great seafood dinner on the river at Brazos Landing (reservation made), breakfast at Milo’s All Day (reservation absolutely needed), and dinner at Diamondback Steakhouse (reservation made). Each were fabulous. Leaving Magnolia Market we dropped into the Backyard Bar and Grill for some outdoor patio music and drinks. It was the perfect little weekend in Waco and the house was a large part of that.

Summary: We’ve stated many rentals in Waco as we have two kids at Baylor and this has been the best so far. Great hosts! Great living space and location! We & our dog loved the backyard!!. Our new home in Waco when we visit for the next four years!

Summary: The house was clean and inviting. We enjoyed the comforts of home while staying here. The back yard is fenced in with a gate equipped with a security code to enter. If you choose to walk, the property is close to the downtown area and Magnolia Market. The owner provides details closer to your arrival such as passcode to enter the home, security gate and address. She also provides information on places to see and restaurants to check out. We had a pleasant experience here at Clay Oak Cottage.
