Positive: The host, Vittoria, was very easy to communicate with during check-in and throughout our stay. The property is a beautiful traditional home located up the hill from Cortina d'Ampezzo. It has many historical photos of the Cortina area throughout the home, which was neat to see. The kitchen was fully stocked and equipped for cooking for a family of four. The beds and pillows were quite comfortable with plenty of extra blankets when it gets cold. There is a private dedicated parking spot in front of the property. The surrounding neighborhood has some mild construction work during the day, but it is a very quiet area (apart from the river noise) during the night. There is beautiful views of the surrounding mountains from the large outdoor patio. The home is perfect for a relaxing and comfortable getaway! There are two restaurants within a 5-minute walk. The home is located within a short drive to several trailheads in all directions, so it is perfect as a home base to explore the Dolomites area. There is a washing machine located within the home, which is very helpful for longer stays.

Negative: The property has a closed-concept layout that makes it challenging to move around for multiple people (especially when cooking in the kitchen). The rooms are quite tight but manageable. As mentioned in previous reviews, the distance from Cortina requires that you have a vehicle or you will need to take taxis to and from town. Lastly, as in many other accommodations throughout Italy, the host provides a minimal amount of cleaning supplies but expects you to purchase everything else (apart from hand soap in the bathrooms) regardless of how long your stay will be. You will need to purchase your own dishwashing liquid, paper towels, soap for the kitchen, shower soaps, etc. The internet speed was VERY SLOW (1.6 Mbps download speed), which made even searching on the internet for things to do in the area difficult. You will be expected to pay for any heating costs, which are billed by the hour.

Positive: A lovingly restored property which had everything we needed. Plenty of room, comfortable beds, plenty of towels, toiletries and hot water. Also a friendly and knowledgeable owner. Thank you Vittoria!

Negative: The property is located up a steep hill in the Alvera region of Cortina. It is a min 15 walk downhill into town but at least double on the way back. However, there are regular cheap buses and taxis available and we had a car so this didn't spoil our stay.

Summary: Excellent summer stay!
