West Quaco House | Charming Shipbuilder's House Located on the Coast of the Mighty Bay of Fundy

4 Bedroom House in West Quaco

Come and relax in a home originally built by a shipbuilder in the community of St. Martins/West Quaco in 1850. The original structure remains and many additions and upgrades have been made. From the front deck, enjoy a 180 degree panoramic view of the Bay and Anvil Rock, marvel at the strength of the Bay of Fundy as it fills in the Bay before you and the marsh behind you at high tide. The home is like a floating oasis at high tide.
Cross the road to the beach where you can paddle board at high tide or if you wish to stick closer to home, you can paddle board in the marsh behind the house. The same beach and marsh will open up at low tide and allow you to discover the mysteries left behind by the receding waters. Each day is different and the unique experience will draw you back to the Bay of Fundy year after year.
The front deck and back of the home also allow for wonderful bird watching. You may even be lucky enough to spot a bald eagle. The Fundy Trail or kayaking with the local company in the town of St. Martins will also allow for wildlife sightings.
Be sure to experience the Sea Caves as well at low tide. The two restaurants located beside the Sea Caves will serve you up some great fish and chips and sea food chowder. The lighthouse located next to the home allows you to watch the forces of the tides as they duel with each other during the changing of the tides. Brown's Beach is also a must see.
If you love to hike, do not miss Giffin Pond Rd. Located at the end of Quaco Rd, this trek will take you to a fresh water pond laying beside the ocean. Rock formations in this area and Brown's Beach are a must see.
Finally, bring a book and relax or dedicate some time to writing. The rhythm of the tides and the beauty of the local people will force you to gear down. The gem of this community is that it has remained true to its roots and its vision. Come and experience it. You will leave an enriched person.

Summary: We enjoyed the tranquil setting. We explored the local sites, lighthouse, caves, beaches. Day trip to Moncton for the casino. May have done some more water activities but the weather took a turn towards hurricane Fiona. We were leaving the Saturday of the hurricane anyway and fortunately we were able to drive out. The storm did not hit so hard as far west as we were. A very nice place!! Would recommend this home.

Summary: We had a wonderful time in West Quaco expiring the marsh and beach outside just steps from the property. Minutes to world famous tidal caves in St. Martins and gorgeous views on the Fundy trail. Can’t wait to get back and stay at this great location. Thank you Patrick and family for sharing your fantastic home away from home with us.

Summary: This charming house was cozy and comfortable for 6 adults. The views are great and the night sky was amazing. We particularly enjoyed the sun room for our morning coffee or to sit and talk about the day's events after sun down. The location is great for walks to the beach, day trips to Saint John, the Fundy trail or just hanging out in St. Martins. We will be back.

Summary: We were 3 adults, a twelve year old and a dog. There was more than enough room for additional people to stay comfortably. The cottage was well stocked and equipped which made it an easy stay. There is a small grocery in St. Martin’s which had most things we needed but would recommend shopping in Saint John for the bulk. You cannot get a better view than the front deck! The chairs are so comfortable and be prepared to sit there for hours watching the tide go in and out. We hit all the local tourist sites, and loved them. But the highlight for sure was right across the street from the cottage! You don’t have to get in a vehicle and you can have amazing adventures without being surrounded by tourists. At low tide we walked all the way to the Anvil rock, there were awesome caves to discover that we had all to ourselves and found many, many shells to bring home! We also made use of the kayaks during high tide and the tv and dvds during rainy evenings. I would definitely recommend this cottage to everyone. The views from the sunroom at the back are beautiful as well with no mosquitoes. :) don’t let the pictures fool you, the home is cozier and bigger than the pictures show and the pictures do not do the view justice. You need to see it for yourself!!

Summary: We had a wonderful vacation! This house has charm. The renovations do not detract from the quaint cottage feel. Although the individual rooms may be smaller than in your home, each is adequate, and the additional outdoor decks and the sunroom make the home feel spacious. We watched a morning sunrise from the rockers on the front deck. We spent hours exploring the beaches. We watched the birds, the deer, and the sunset from the sunroom. We learned a lot about the early shipbuilders at the St. Martin's History Museum. We explored sites along the Fundy Trail and wished we had time to thoroughly enjoy all aspects of its natural beauty (but they really do lock the entrance AND exit gates at closing time). The photos of the surroundings do not do it justice! The one note of caution I have is if you are one who cannot live without your electronic devices, this may not be the place for you. There is NO cable/satellite or internet (wired or wifi) at the house. There is adequate cell signal. Thanks, Brennans, for sharing!

Summary: The house was comfy, and big enough for our family of 8. The view is spectacular. Everything we needed was there: towels, blankets, dishwasher soap... It was clean and well taken care of. It is well situated, between St-John and Hopewell Rocks. St-Martins is a nice place to stay. We were there for our 25th wedding anniversary. Thinking of going back for our 30th.

Summary: We arrived after a very long day in the car driving in the rain. It was late at night and we were cold, and wet. The house was dark and cold and didn't seem particularly inviting. After a restful night on a very good mattress in a cozy warm house, I came down the stairs and saw the breathtaking view in the sunshine and my previous negative attitude completely changed. The front deck in the morning and the back deck in the evening are excellent places to enjoy the sunrise and sunset, and the fluctuating water levels. The little river in the back of the house was a great place for my dog to swim and retrieve. We used three of the four bedrooms and all had black out shades and very comfortable beds. The kitchen was adequately equipped. There is a large dining room table but we preferred to eat in the glassed in porch at the back of the house overlooking the small river. Our week in St. Martin was restful and relaxing. Our days were spent hiking, beach walking, sight seeing, eating and meeting some of the very kind and friendly locals. We even came to enjoy not having any cell phone or internet access. Patrick and Jennifer are very attentive and responsible homeowners. They responded to our questions promptly and attended to our concerns. They are very conscientious. I highly recommend this property to anyone who is interested in a quiet and relaxing vacation in an absolutely gorgeous setting.
