Start your day with coffee on the porch listening to the call of the loons on beautiful, 7 mile long Highland Lake in Stoddard. This private, tranquil setting is your perfect lake escape. Ranch style log home is adorned with a knotty pine interior, and nestled on a very private, quiet, lakeside setting. 2 bedrooms sleep 6 comfortably with full bath, outdoor shower, double bed, bunk beds and twin bed, 2 comfy sofas, and a day bed on the porch (like sleeping under the stars). Also includes use of 3 kayaks, canoe, 2 fishing poles, and 2 bicycles.
While our free WIFI service with Roku access will allow you to "stay connected", there are plenty of recreational activities within walking distance; Highland Lake Marina - 1/2 mile, Stoddard General Store - 1 mile, hiking trail to Stoddard Rocks/Pioneer Lake - 1/2 mile. Drive or hike to the top of nearby "Blueberry" Pitcher Mtn. (Yankee Magazine's top NE blueberry picking spot). Hike Pitcher Mtn. Fire Tower. Summary: Except for some construction noise the first two days, it was a quiet and relaxing retreat from busy city life. The house was well appointed with everything one might need and the host thoughtfully checked in. The lake view was nice and the outside shower great. Access to the lake is a bit of a walk downhill and not easily accessible for this 66 year old, but the swimming pond 3 miles away was very nice and I went there daily for a dip. Was able to have dogs visit too which was nice. Green trees outside every window, all of which were sparkling clean. Enjoyed my stay. SEB

Summary: We enjoyed getting away for a week with the quietness of the cabin. We (and our cat!) really enjoyed the screened in porch. The lake was nice for kayaking, paddle boarding, and floating. There is a lot of plant life - so not ideal for swimming unless you go out further, but was fine with floaties and a floatie anchor to keep us out of the plants. Having the outdoor shower was great too! Cabin gets hot and cold easily - so plan accordingly! Fans in each room for when it's hot.

Summary: The only real negative on our stay was that the home smelled very musty but with all the rain we have had this summer and the age of the home, it is probably to be expected. Otherwise for most of the weekend we were the only ones on the street. Also I thought the property was more lakefront than it was. It was more lake view with a footpath down a steep hill to the lake across the street. Otherwise we had a few surprises with some fresh apples, granola bars, cider and creamer. Water is not drinkable but they left us plenty of water bottles and jugs for our consumption.

Summary: Me and my wife enjoyed our stay.Very relaxing cabin, great porch to have coffee in the morning facing the water. It rained most of the trip, but we still had a good time. The property listing may need to be updated ,since it lists a hot tub however the property doesn't have one. The owner Mary was very pleasant and cabin was very clean

Summary: Construction starting at 6 AM and continuing until 7 PM along with multiple nights of fireworks explosions until 11 PM. The lake is supposed to be a place to go for peace and quiet. Mary was very responsive and addressed all of our concerns as best as possible. Thank you.
