Positive: The Cave Lodge is a great base for exploring the nearby areas. We loved our little bungalow - it felt like being in a tree house. It was however very damp there (being wet season) and not so great having only cold shower (even though we were told there was meant to be hot shower during certain hours). We enjoyed doing the white-water kayaking trip #2 through the Tham Lot cave, local walks and motorbike day tour out to the Myanmar border. We found the staff not so helpful in terms of providing correct advice (quite the opposite - we almost missed out on doing the motorbike ride that we had to arrange ourselves last minute, as the offer from the Cave Lodge staff was not good - limited only to the local area and overpriced). Our breakfast seemed also quite expensive and not so great and combined with the lack of hot shower (that was needed after our days spent out and about!) and not that helpful staff lead to our slightly lower overall rating. It is still a great place to stay that I would 100% recommend.

Positive: It was a very good stay with lovely walks in the local area. It is a 5 minute walk to the cave. The food was delicious and the kayaking was great fun!

Positive: We had a lovely stay on our way around the Mae Hong Son loop. The caves are incredible and only a few mins from the lodge. We appreciated John taking the time to tell us about the area and the significance of the caves. The communal area is so nice. The food is delicious.

Negative: Just a warning the showers are cold. But we liked the challenge.

Positive: All the food, which was excellent and fairly priced, was added to the bill meaning I didn't need to carry my wallet. There is masses of information for what to do and what to see.

Negative: Cave lodge doesn't take card payment which would have been convenient.

Positive: I booked this location based on advice from other travelers if you don't fancy Pai. But the Cave Lodge is very nice if you want a quiet location. I was there for NYE2025 and for an additional 250 baht they had access to food, drink, fireworks, and got a gift too! There's only wifi in the common area which is fine as well as a kitchen for meals with info on activities in the area. There's also a truck that goes out for sunrise at 6 am, but ask. The family runs well and is great for a chilled-out place. I will visit again on my next trip to Northern Thailand.

Negative: No much to not like, unless you don't prefer a forest/jungle area. I would say having transport is helpful such as a 150cc motorbike or more.

Summary: Wonderful place for some off the beaten path relaxation from Pai.

Positive: Cave lodge is just pure pleasure. Its location is just stunning and the food options are impressive. There are options for activities although we were only there for one night. Super close to Tham Lod cave and watching the swifts and bats!

Negative: Beds are firm by my UK standards but pretty normal for Thailand
