Positive: Staying with family and it was busy, very busy! Rooms are lovely with ample free parking that is secure and we'll overseen. Even though it was a busy weekend, the rooms were quiet. Breakfast is a buffet with a great range available. Catering for all dietary requirements. The dining area is large and spacious for breakfast. There is an active local clientele also so weekends are busy with the bars full, lobby area busy and spa very busy. I've stayed before for work and much quieter although I did bump into the Irish soccer team! Weekend music in the lobby bar area usually. Rooms are spacious, clean. Security to access room floors and lifts is good. The upper floor has a seated area for quieter space to talk or work if needed. Check in and out smooth and seamless.

Negative: This is a lovely hotel but....unfortunately a very rude assistant looked us up and down when we went, as hotel guests, to have an evening meal. We were smart casual and know that standard as we are professional people. Meanwhile after this insulting treatment a young lady was walking around in a bra and open jacket all through the lobby and restaurant. Everybody else was dressed as we were so don't know what that was about. We were put outdoors in an annex and told it was heated. It was, over their serving area and entrance door, but we were put by another door on a cold rainy night with a stream of uncontrolled children running constantly in and out leaving the door open. We were freezing! And it wasn't just us - everyone had to keep their coats on through dinner and some had blankets wrapped around them. The service was terrible, the vegetarian option was pitiful and we were waiting over 20 minutes to give our order and over 40 to receive it. It wasn't fully hot. It was served by a nice girl but the rest of the restaurant staff that night were terrible. It was a major spoiler and wouldn't be inclined to endure that rudeness or tardiness again. Being busy is not an excuse to treat anyone like this or for service like this. Sitting in the cold for an hour for a 1* meal is nothing to be proud of. I did mention it at checkout and told that somebody would contact us but it never happened and we had to leave for a long drive home. The poor area was overcrowded but ok. The person on the secure entry was good and pleasant but the dressing area (women's) needed to be cleaned with towels overflowing in baskets, a lot of left debris etc. I would recommend that on busy periods upping the cleaning and checking schedule. Overall the evening experience paled in comparison to the morning dining, room or check in staff.
