Summary: On the upside: Very nice castle kept clean. This is an old place and there and there you will find evidence of its old life. This was winter hence we didn't use the exterior amenities but can vouch on the quality of the heating. Too bad the chimneys were not in service. The lady welcoming you is really nice and helpful. Points of attention: This is not far from the road, in summer in the park you will hear the traffic. If you like to walk around, you will have to first take your car to get to nice starting place.

Summary: Lovely privatly owned old Chateau in gorgeous ochre yellow and a nice pool and more or less in the centre of France. We rented it for two weeks and stayed with (almost) the entire family. 16 persons, 4 generations. We hired Patricia to help preparing dinner (also vegetarian food) in the kitchen, so that was easy! We strongly recomment to hire here and so enjoy your stay to the max! The road can be quite busy, but the Chateau is facing the other (Loire) side, so that is not that bad. There is a adjacent farmhouse that can be rented as well and those renters will use the same road. Lots of toddler stuff, so do not bring anything! Good communication with owner in English! Summary: Fabulous house that was everything we wished for and more. Beautiful French house that was comfy warm big and full of French character. Would come back for many more years. Lovely family that own house that made our stay extra special to know that the house has been in same family for many many years and the love of the house shines through.

Summary: Wonderful and well sized child friendly castle with pool and beautiful surroundings. We particularly appreciated the authenticity of the place. Lots to see and in the area (car required). A great place to just stick around and enjoy the atmosphere or as a base camp to make day trips to nearby sights/amusement parks. For families this is a safe choice, you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Notre groupe d'amis a passé une semaine à Pontamailly, château et maison. Quelques commentaires de la part des participants: MB: A wonderful spot for a group of family and friends to spend a few days together. Multiple well-equipped and spacious rooms in both buildings for talking, eating or partying together (we sat 24 adults for dinner in the chateau's main dining room). Large comfortable bedrooms with good beds and room to get away from it all. A peaceful and beautiful setting close to great walks, historic towns and churches, beautiful wine and beef country. Not least, a chance to soak up history in a grand but relaxed environment. SB: Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour dans votre belle demeure ; les chambres sont spacieuses pour la plupart avec leurs salle de bains modernes, la salle à manger permettait de réunir un grand nombre de personnes, les deux salons successifs permettaient plusieurs activités: musique et discussions par exemple...L'annexe située à proximité du château où nous séjournions est très bien distribuée avec ses chambres à l'étage, une grande cuisine fonctionnelle et bien équipée , un chaleureux et grand salon éclairé donnant sur le parc et l'étang KMcK: A place with great character and ambience, ideal for prolonged celebrations with friends who may not know each other and for choral renditions in the stone spiral staircase. CW: We've just spent a week at Pontamailly for a 60th birthday party. It was great place to entertain 24 guests with lovely dinners in the huge dining room, plenty of beautiful places to visit round about, walking cycling and golf for the more sporty ones and, with two days of unexpected sunshine at the end of the week, dips in the swimming pool (in early May ...) and barbecues in the evening. Those who stayed in the house heard each other get up in the morning and enjoyed a communal breakfast each day; those in the chateau, being further removed from each other, got up at all sorts of hours and had breakfast as it came. And the magic of being in a chateau made it very special. A wonderful week!

Summary: Short form of the story - for some reason the browser was reloading the page and my comments were missing afterwards!!! :-( Chateau was as expected - in good condition outside and inside, nice clean pool, nice rooms on second floor with own bath room or shower, on third floor only shared bath room (not so bad in our case - bunch of 9 men), we had a nice stay
