Positive: Héctor is super accommodating as a host. The casita is on his property but very private. It has a well-appointed kitchen with a fridge, Toaster oven and two-burner gas stove top. The bedroom and bath are upstairs with a great king-size bed and nice linens. There are fans on both levels and A/C on the top level. Simply opening the windows at night and using the fans is our favorite way to sleep. Lots of windows with screens throughout the casita. The shower has hot water - which is not a given in rural Oaxaca. Hector also provided us with a 5 gallon bottle of water. There is a coffee pot and an Oster blender conveniently located on the counter. My husband swam in the pool outside our room daily. It’s cold and refreshing.

Negative: We liked all of it. Not far off the main Hwy.

Positive: The location is just minutes from the best beaches of Puerto Escondido. We rented a car since the property is a few minutes from the main road and we have kids, but you could rent a moto which is very popular to do. The house is beautifully built. The 5 of us slept well. The kitchen has everything you need. The TVs are big. The water is lukewarm, not hot, but that’s okay in the tropical weather. There is also an outdoor shower for post-beach days. The beautiful palapa roof is made of dried palm leaves and is stunning on the top floor. The natural roof has tiny insects which may come into the room, but they do not bite, and Hector said he will likely install a net above the bed to ensure it’s not a problem. We were not too bothered by it. Hector and Mariana are wonderful hosts. anything you need just ask and they will fix it. They also give good tips for places to eat or things to do. They want to make guests happy. Our family really appreciated the attention to detail. He keeps the lawn beautiful with plants and a lovely pool too. He has an open-air palapa on his home next door which we were able to use to swing in the hammock and enjoy the ocean views and breeze. Wow!

Negative: Anything you don’t like Hector will try to help and fix it. Great hosts.

Summary: We very much enjoyed our stay: great hosts, great home and Puerto Escondido is lovely.
