Positive: Friendly welcome. Apartment was in a good location, was spacious and quiet. The bed was large and comfortable.

Negative: Was very disappointed with this apartment. The photos are alot nicer than the reality. The kitchen hadnt been cleaned properly. Opened packets of food had been left there. The filter for the coffee machine was covered in green mould. There arent enough basic cooking utensils for cooking meals. The freezer had something spilt in it that had frozen. The shower was unreliable with barely tepid water. The armchair had a hole in it. The whole place was dark and looks like it needs a fresh lick of paint on the walls as they look grubby and paint flaking off in places. There's no outside space to sit and nowhere to dry wet towels etc. Not value for money.

Positive: The location was good, we liked going to the breakfast place next door. The bag of coffee in the kitchen is a very nice touch.

Negative: The kitchen needs is working but with doors hanging off the hinges and broken glass in the door not really inviting to use. There is a tiny garden which I’m not sure we could use and not really a view. The main bedroom is very spacious but the smaller bedroom has no windows and is extremely hot. The hot water wasn’t working.

Summary: Basic but spacious and ok location.

Positive: Freddy and his team at cafe Nativo were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast at the cafe was exceptional.

Negative: The accommodation was more basic than we expected, for example the armchair in the bedroom had a hole in the arm, the kitchen was dirty. The shower was more difficult to get hot water than expected. Overall the accommodation was very expensive for the quality offered.

Positive: Quiet (with one exception) and near to center. One large sleeping room with wardrobes. Friendly and helpful host Fredy. Sofa. Nice apartment.

Negative: Access to bathroom only through the large sleeping room. Second sleeping room very small and without window. Kitchen equipment was rather poor (cutting board, kitchen towel, large knife etc would help)

Summary: Nice homebase in nice San Juan for one couple or small family

Positive: The couch was very comfortable to sit on. It had 2 bedrooms, one with a king bed and the other with a double bed. It's part of a property with several other bungalows behind a pricey but tasty coffee shop/cafe (Nativo Coffee Shop). It had an eco filter and an ice machine, so free ice water was awesome

Negative: I never met the owner and he didn't have a WhatsApp, but he was pretty communicative through booking com. Still a bit weird. The electric water heater head broke so it wouldn't heat the shower. They replaced it the next day but it still never got above lukewarm. The small bedroom got quite hot and they didn't have a fan. The layout was a bit weird because you have to go through the master bedroom to reach the 1 bathroom. There was a semi constant strong smell of wood smoke on the property that bothered my sinuses.

Summary: Pretty good place

Positive: Massive apartment. Quiet location behind another building so it's not in the street. Fredy and his staff at the coffee shop next to this apartment are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The coffee and food at the cafe are top quality.

Negative: To get the shower very hot the pressure had to be low.

Positive: Enormous apartment, well fitted out kitchen, huge bed, very comfortable in general. The owner Fredy is also super nice and helped us organise a hike.

Negative: Shower water was a little dirty, the outer gate was locked after about 8pm, we didn’t have a key and were standing outside the gate for a while before realising we could stick our hand through and open it (although this seems to be quite common in Guatemala)
