Summary: We had a lovely week in this charming old house. Very suitable for bigger families. Everything you need is there. Although the furniture and f.e. the dishwasher is dated, the house and especially the garden more than make up for this. Great pool also! Last but not least, the help from the housemanager is terrific. We would advise you to listen to all her tips!

Summary: We wish we could give it ten stars! Casa do Bóco was a dream. Set away from anything really touristy Arouca and its surrounding areas did not disappoint our family. We had the wonderful opportunity to stay for two weeks at Manuel's families Casa outside of Arouca (the town). Great outdoor activities, from the long boardwalk hike, river swimming and exploring geological attractions like Mother Rocks (who knew!) kept us more than busy. Patricia the house manager was wonderful and offered her services without hesitation. We (un)fortunately had our phone off for most of the time so missed these offers. The house itself was very comfortable, with a living room, dining room and bathrooms in each bedroom. Would highly recommend both the location and the house to any would be renters. On a short visit to Lisbon we told our waiter where we were staying and he seemed confused, as if we misspoke. No one, he said, goes to Arouca, and thought it strange we would be. Everyone else's loss in our opinion. Great experience, in a house and region full of history. Oh and there is a pool and it is fantastic. Obrigado Manuel e Patricia!

Summary: Our family of 7 spent a few days here while visiting the Paiva Walkways. The accommodations were perfect for us - 4 bedrooms, each with it's own bathroom. All the furnishings were antique in style, and very comfortable and attractive. The kitchen was well equipped and included basic condiments. Wi-fi worked well . Even in late October, the weather was warm and sunny so we enjoyed using the swimming pool and sitting comfortably outside. The house is on the outskirts of Arouca which is a very pleasant town with some excellent restaurants. We were very happy with our visit!

Summary: What a special House/place! We had an amazing stay and our contact Patricia could not have been more helpful; Anything from local advise to small logistical things could not have been communicated more friendly and helpfull. Absolute perfect communication all the way through. The small nearby city satisfied our every need for groceries with 2 super markets, shopping and small quaint cafés. The drive to Porto is a beautiful ride, through small towns and mountain passes and takes about 1 hr. The objective with our stay was to relax as much as possible and the house and pool accommodated perfectly. This is rural living in a historic house at its best! We will definitely try to come back in the future. Amazing place, amazing times! Thank you!

Summary: We passed a week in this villa with a group of friends. Everyone really enjoyed this house because it is very spacious and full of charme. The area is very interesting, not touristic at all, so we have had the opportunity to know and appreciated a part of real Portugal. We enjoyed the beautiful garden even in the warm evenings ; unfortunately we could not use the large swimming pool because there was a problem with the filter system. We recommend this villa and hope to come back some day. A special thanks to Sofia who received us at our arrival.

Summary: We had the surprise of our life when finding that this house was not just a house, but part of a larger estate, once refurbished into a small top quality hotel with four double bedrooms, each (!!) with bathroom with sink, tub, toilet and bidet, now rented as one house. There was a kitchen, living room and separate dining/breakfest room, with doors opening into a beautiful courtyard, where we could sit. From there you can walk through an ancient door into the spacious garden, where a slate table is at your disposal and where you'll find the swimming pool, with a wide view over the Arouca valley. Recommended!
