Positive: What an incredible, peaceful stay! This small country house in Alentejo is the definition of comfortable and cosy. It’s located in a very quiet, friendly small town that provides the perfect, serene escape. The outdoor areas truly shine. We spent hours enjoying the beautiful garden and the stunning views over the countryside. The location is ideal for nature lovers, offering easy access to the Alqueva Dam, the largest artificial lake in Europe. The sunsets there are absolutely breathtaking, and it’s a perfect spot for picnic areas and stargazing. A huge bonus: our cat had an incredible time exploring the secure garden—they didn't want to leave! The house itself is practical, offering everything you need to cook and prepare simple meals in the kitchen. Highly recommended retreat for peace, beautiful nature, and travellers with pets!

Negative: The only thing that could be modernised or improved upon is the pool area.

Positive: The location is amazing - overlooking the water with a huge sliding door in the main room. It's also at the end of a dead-end road - so very little passing traffic, despite the house being on the road. We visited when it was raining in March, but I can imagine the outside space being amazing during the summer. The kitchen is mega cute - all fitted into an large floor to ceiling cupboard that you can close up. Also a really good stock of cutlery, glasses etc. Dishwasher, hob and microwave. Coffee pod machine with pods (!), toaster, kettle.... and a bottle of local wine in the fridge (always welcome). There is a log fire, that was very welcome given the rain outside, and despite the place likely having been unused for periods during the winter, there was no smell of damp - this is a common issue in similar places we've been to like this, so very pleased with that. The aircon is also there, so you can heat/cool quickly.

Negative: The bathroom is tiny! We managed, but larger people would likely struggle. The lighting is very cosy but it does create some dark corners in places. Nothing the torch on your phone can't fix, though.

Positive: The house is amazing. Nice, cozy, well decorated, with everything ready for a nice stay.

Negative: It was a shame that there was no dry wood to make a fire. The house has an amazing fireplace but no wood indoors.
