2 Bedroom Cottage in Barnes, London

Luxurious and comfortable, come and enjoy London from our house. With a village feel in the city, the location has easy transport links to London Underground or Railway Services. A tube or train will take you to central London in just 20 minutes!
The house dates back to the early 1900s and it's 'boomerang' layout and unique spiral staircase give it a special look and added space - great for kids and adults alike. It retains some original features, such as the fireplace. It is conveniently tucked away down Castelnau row footpath and is the biggest of 7 cottages, in this very calm spot. The house sleeps 5 adults comfortably.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything required to do some serious cooking if you're up for it! There is also a utility room with separate washer and dryer machines for laundry.
There are a couple of great cafes within 2 minutes walking distance of the house: Sips & Bites (Italian) and Spoonful (French). There is also a greengrocer and natural foods merchant on the same row of shops. I highly recommend PostBox Indian restaurant and The Bridge pub.
In Barnes village, there are many restaurants to choose from. Don't miss the Olympic Cafe and Cinema, and Rick Stein fish restaurant, a little further up in Sheen.
Barnes is a very coveted area in SW London, there is a large amount of nature accessible nearby - the river Thames (3 minutes walk), the Leg-O-Mutton nature reserve (3 minutes walk), Barnes Common and Barnes Pond (5 minutes bus ride) and the London Wetlands Centre (www.wwt.org.uk) a wetlands reserve for wildfowl and birds (5 minutes bus ride or 20 minutes walk). On the subject of nature, the house is only 15 minutes drive away from Royal Kew Gardens (www.kew.org), a must for any lover of plants!
For those looking to do shopping, the Wesfield shopping centre is just North of Hammersmith on the other side of the river Thames (www.westfield.com). There are also world famous museums located nearby in South Kensington: The Natural History Museum (www.nhm.ac.uk), The Science Museum (www.sciencemuseum.org.uk) and The Victoria and Albert Museum (www.vam.ac.uk).

Summary: Comfortable home south of the Thames. Just a note: if you are unable to use public transportation Uber rides to central London are pricey because the the Hammersmith Bridge, although very close by, is only open to pedestrian traffic, Would recommend for families with teens.

Summary: We booked this property for a visit to Wimbledon, and it was an excellent choice. It’s in a great location and is easily walkable to the foot bridge and a few nice restaurants, and had great access to Uber and local busses. The house was spacious and felt comfortable to live in. It was exactly as advertised and we would absolutely book it again.

Summary: My family of four with two teenagers stayed for a full week. The house is perfect for a long stay. The master and second bedroom beds were comfortable and large enough for two adults, the sofa bed in the office worked well for my teenager. Having 2 1/2 baths made mornings much easier and the convenience of a full kitchen can not be overstated. We fell in love with Barnes and hated to leave. Having bread, eggs, milk, and juice waiting for us made it feel like we were visiting family and made that first rough morning after traveling much nicer. Communication with Farid was impeccable. I was concerned we would be too far from London, but we enjoyed the short walk to Hammersmith station in the mornings and the slightly longer commute was more than compensated by the benefit of staying in a quiet, safe, and absolutely beautiful village. Thank you Farid!

Summary: The property was just lovely and became a home away from home for us. We loved our stay and thoroughly enjoyed the Barens Village area.

Summary: The village in which this house sits is so cute has all the amenities one might need. It seemed very safe and had access to buses and with a lovely 20 minute walk over the Hammersmith bridge, the Hammersmith tube station. The house itself was well-appointed, with everything you might need to be comfortable. The owner was also quick to reply to contact, and was very helpful. We got lost finding the place when getting there (it is down a little secluded walkway), and with a quick phone call, he guided us right to our destination. He had even put some food in the fridge for breakfast for us!We spent a lot of evening time in the living room watching some Sherlock from the easy-to-use entertainment center on the comfortable couch, and also cooked a few meals in the kitchen, and everything was great. My husband and I typically complain about the comfort of the beds in a rented room, but not this time! The beds were super comfy, and we slept like babies after all of the London sight-seeing!Just so potential renters know, the house is most likely fairly old (like much of London), so some newer things like vents in the upstairs bathrooms or floors that aren’t creaky are absent, but that doesn’t mean it was anything but clean and lovely. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend a visit!

Summary: For a first trip to London and a first trip staying in a Vrbo, this was absolutely wonderful. Farid the property owner was super helpful with the entire process. We were able to check in a little bit early when our flight got in before we were expecting and he was very gracious with the checkout process as well. Ease of access to City center wasn't great, the 15-minute walk across the pedestrian bridge into Hammersmith to catch the tube wasn't always ideal, but at no point did we feel unsafe or hindered by the process. All in all, I highly recommend and would absolutely stay with them again!

Summary: Barnes is on the shores of the Thames River. There is a foot bridge from Barnes to Hammersmith which is located on the other side of the Thames River;10 minute walk where u find a subway that takes u directly to the heart of London in 20 minutes. The district line stops at Tower Bridge, Hyde Park, St James Park, Buckingham Palace and Piccadilly Square, as well as Heathrow Airport .There is another subway line at Hammersmith that takes you directly to Westminster.. The house was very clean, beds and furniture were comfortable. The host was excellent with communication.

Summary: This was a great stay near Richmond, close enough to the tube, quiet, and awesome pubs and coffee shops less than a five minute walk away.
Amanda M. Jan 12, 2025 12:58:34 AM
Summary: This spacious and comfortable home was in a quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed our daily stroll across the Hammersmith bridge to the tube station. The host was very helpful and prompt with his replies to my messages. His tips for getting around London and to-and-from Heathrow were excellent. This first time visitor to London was most appreciative!
