Positive: Dinner in the restaurant was very good and plentiful. All the staff were courteous and friendly. Good parking.
Negative: Opaque windows in 2 of the rooms meant we could not see out at all. There was no advice regarding this in any of the information. Apparently we overlooked service areas which meant early morning noise. There was also a light outside my bedroom window which was on all night and very bright. The receptionist I spoke to suggested I could have paid for an upgrade. The bed was very hard. The heating was not working in either room. Our third room was not as clean as preferred and, as it was above the pool area, very hot. The rooms were not serviced during our stay, not even to replenish tea/coffee. Meandering corridors and stairs, with many fire doors to negotiate made access quite difficult for one of our group, This hotel is very BROWN, the decor needs updating throughout and adds to the impression of grubbiness.
Summary: Adequate for our needs while we attended a wedding in the area.

Positive: Handy for the wedding we went too. Bed comfortable Handing for Manchester and Liverpool and very pretty settings.
Negative: Looked forward to the pool but after one session because the steps were slippery and I bruised my shin on them I didn’t dare swim again. Changing rooms tired and cramped. We ate out for breakfast as the breakfast seems expensive for what they were.
Summary: Pleasant week away just a shame I wasn’t able to swim daily.

Positive: Location
Negative: Bed was awful, mattress was broken and the pillows were totally worn and flat. Bathroom unsafe,as shower was in bathtub, but the distance to step out of tub to floor is dangerous and not safe for elderly people. Shower water pressure was awful and lukewarm showers.Brrrr.We did let reception know ,but nothing really changed. We were there 2 weeks but room cleaned only twice. Had to ask for coffee, tea, sugar and milk every 2 day's. Given it was a 2 week booking, they should have supplied a reasonable amount. In our late 60s ,but have very physical jobs so are very able....and given a room at front of reception where everyone smoked was awful,we only had one window but frequently had to close it due to drunken people and smokers every day, evening who were guided to sit outside our room. Lots of function's happening so lack of sleep on an awful bed made us very tired. We literally were out of the hotel 12 hours per day. Food in restaurant was expensive and not that good. We chose this place for locality and it looked lovely online. Definitely wouldn't recommend unfortunately. Ramsbottom itself is full of character and that's what we aimed for,but we couldn't wait to move on. It really wasn't worth what we paid. The staff were ok though, trying to do their best and are probably under pressure. One thing I didn't do was take photo's of our room and share them online as we usually do. We were embarrassed, because it literally looked like we were in a room at a local pub.
Summary: Old Mill ,needs update
