Positive: The property was well presented and clean, offering good accommodation for a family of 5, and easy access to the golf course, which was the reason we were there. This is constructive criticism, because the property is so nearly there, just a few tweaks, I feel, are needed. If you are looking for a property with views or an outdoor area to sit, then this would not be right for you. The property is very conveniently located in the centre of Dornoch and overlooks a car park. There was no outside seating that I was aware of. The kitchen was well appointed; however, there were not enough sets of glasses for our group (5), not enough highballs or glasses for juice, and the crockery felt like plastic. Perhaps there had been, and they had been broken and not replaced? Some of the utensils looked like seconds, and the cutlery drawers were a shambles, a mismatched array of utensils in a mess. We had a lovely basket of wood in the sitting room, which was much appreciated; however, after day 2, we ran out and had no information on how we could replenish. Upstairs, the rooms were clean and welcoming, however 2 of the rooms were missing bulbs in the bedside lights. Soft linen on the beds, and lovely white fluffy towels were a treat; however, there were few places to store them in the bathrooms. The beds were an issue; unfortunately, all 3 of the double beds were so noisy, squeaking with every movement, that we all had very disrupted sleep. I could hear my children moving during the night in other rooms; it was that noisy. I am sure this is something that could be easily fixed and would make a big difference to the guest experience.

Positive: I can’t say enough good things about this property. From the moment we arrived out of the pouring rain into a warm clean house we felt at home. The building itself is full of charm and character. Beautifully maintained whilst keeping that warm homely feel.

Negative: Everything was perfect.

Summary: Burnside exceeded all my expectations. We were a golf group of 4 guys. It was nice to have our own space and somewhere
