Our sun-drenched central countryside location is a short 5-minute drive from Mahone Bay and close to Oak Island and Lunenburg. A perfect spot to call your home base to discover the South Shore. Our idyllic property includes a dock on a tidal river with picturesque views.
The well-appointed 2-bedroom suite (King + 2 Twins) on the 2nd-floor has a king-size bed in one bedroom and two twin beds in the other bedroom. It features a full private ensuite bathroom with tub/shower combination. The suite has lots of natural light and high ceilings and is sun-drenched in the morning.
The bedroom has high-quality linens and a high-quality mattress that our guests rave about. Contemporary furnished and stylishly decorated this room has everything to make you feel at home – WiFi, Netflix, Prime, hairdryer, iron and more.
In total the spacious historic house offers two double rooms and one 2-bedroom suite, each spacious and with its own private ensuite bathroom, it sleeps 8 people. Ideal for couples, families or small groups to get away and connect.
If you need anything, we’re close by and ready to help! We live in the house, but you’ll enjoy plenty of privacy with a separate guest entrance and covered porch, on the opposite side of the house.
You can simply relax and enjoy soothing views of the pasture from every room at our airy retreat, or fill your day with indoor and outdoor activities, between the indoor lounge, covered porch, picnic tables and dock on the river 200 feet away – the perfect spot to launch your kayak, about 1km upriver from Mahone Bay.
Our welcome package includes Lindor chocolate, water, coffee and tea in your room and in the guest lounge. We also offer complimentary bikes and have easy access to the Rum Runners Trail, perfect for the outdoorsy and adventurous. For beach lovers, we provide beach towels. And if you want to lounge indoors, we’ve got plenty of maps, books, cards and board games to pass the time. Whether you want to interact with other guests or keep to yourself, it's up to you.

Summary: River Ridge is convenient to Mahones Bay and Lunenburg. The property is beautiful, set on a hill sloping down to Martin River. Frauke and Mike are lovely hosts. The bed and breakfast is spotlessly clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. The rooms are very large, and the air conditioning is efficient. The breakfasts were delicious. Best of all is Frauke who is kind to share her knowledge of the area and make suggestions to enhance the trip.

Summary: Wonderful Hosts. They could not do enough for you. Gave information on area how to get there. They were fabulous. I would stay with them ever time I'm in the area. Fresh coffee at 6:30. Makes good coffee. Just outside our door. We can not say enough about this place dock and chairs by the river.

Summary: The property is a relaxing place to stay and close town. The owner were delightful and met all of our needs and request. It is a wonderful place to stay and sit on the porch in the morning and enjoy a cup of coffee.

Summary: We stayed at the River Ridge Lodge during a family road trip through Nova Scotia. This was the 4th different lodge we had stayed in during our vacation. This was by far the best accommodation for our family. We stayed in Room 3 where we had plenty of beds in a quiet and lovely setting. The house is located within walking distance of a boat dock on a small cove that is part of the property. The breakfast was outstanding. The hosts of this lodge are extremely friendly and gave several terrific ideas for restaurants in the area and nearby attractions. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip. The only regret we had was that we didn't have a longer stay here to explore Mahone Bay and Lunenberg.
