Negative: The bathroom was horrendous, we wouldn't ever stay here again unless we were guaranteed one of the advertised rooms. The room we ended up in was terrible.

Negative: Food was average. We had to book a time for the buffet which was understandable. We opted for 8pm as we arrived later and were told earlier was busy. Informed restaurant closed at 9. At 8:30 staff cleared / took away the food. We felt rushed and had to grab what we could for our main course as staff were removing the trays. Executive room provided 2 pillows, we had to request more. No mat provided for when you got out os shower. Lack of plug sockets for executive room.

Summary: Adequate for needs, not likely to return. Lovely building and grounds, such potential.

Positive: We will be returning!! The staff were friendly and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. Queries about the room were answered efficiently, however it would be nice if you could update on your website that there is a fridge in rooms which was an added bonus :) Plenty of tea/coffee/sugar and were replenished by the housekeeping staff. Lots of work going on to upgrade some of the rooms, which is nice to see but didn't interfere with our stay. Sam/Jackson dealt with an issue after my partner and my daughter went for a swim in the pool run by Spindles. Partner reacted badly to the chlorine levels and I tried to flag with the company but couldn't obtain entry. Heading to reception and advising of the issue, Sam radioed Jackson who promptly turned up, form filled in and then first aid administered. All managed and dealt with quickly, thank you.

Negative: Our view could have been prettier, as we looked over a car park, but again wasn't a massive issue as we didn't spend much time in our room. The bathroom, the curtain seemed to stick to you whilst showering, but again not a major drama! Again, nothing too major but I don't drink tea or coffee, so maybe add hot chocolate sachets?

Summary: A gem of a place, only 10 miles away from home, but steeped with history and character.
