Positive: The house was beautiful and its garden a delight. We had a comfortable stay and enjoyed the house and Onomichi. The host was very good at responding to my questions and very helpful through the app

Negative: We did not sleep very well due to daylight coming into the room early morning. We also had a difficult journey and late arrival and it would have been a nice touch if the host had planned to leave some water or soft drinks in the fridge. For international travellers without a car, making it to the house in the summer under a scorching heat, this would enhance their stay.

Positive: The house is absolutely gorgeous, with all the necessary amenities. It is also right next to the station while still being on the hill offering a nice view on Onomichi. Access is very easy and check-in was thoroughly explained.

Positive: This is a large Japanese-style house with 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. It comfortably housed the 7 of us for 3 nights. The main bedroom has one queen bed plus a bunk bed and crib. The next room has 3 (or more?) futons, and the third room has two single beds. All of them were very comfortable. There is also a full kitchen, living room and tea room. It also has laundry. The house was very clean and well maintained. 5 minute walk to the train station and near many restaurants. Overall a quite comfortable stay.

Negative: The house itself was very nice but it is close to the train tracks (about 3 houses away). It is not loud but is noticeable if you are a light sleeper. Also, being a Japanese house, there are no blackout shades so it gets light when the sun comes up. Wasn’t a problem for us - just not in for some who might care.

Summary: Lovely large japanese-style home near the train station and restaurants. Great for a large family or group.

Positive: The house was beautifully decorated and maintained. All the rooms were spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable, it had all the amenities you could need and more. The host was very friendly and responsive. We stayed in Onomichi to cycle the Shimanami Kaido and explore the nearby towns and islands and we both wanted to stay in a traditional Japanese house - this was our favourite stay of the whole trip. The garden was lovely and the view from upstairs was incredible. There were only 2 of us in such a big house so there was far more space than necessary - I would love to bring my family back here one day!

Negative: Not much service provided (eg. to leave the luggage after checkout). Not sure it's worth for one night stay given the check-in/check-out times. No water or anything else provided.

Positive: Large space, good value, and close to the train station. Ideal place to stay the night before if you are trying to do the Shimanami Kaido cycling trail the next day. Very cozy and traditional feeling. Our group loved the Go board as well and found the large room with tatami and futon ideal for situation. Was told by my group that this was the best they had slept in a while with such a peaceful backdrop.

Negative: It is a bit of a treck to get to the Airbnb so be wary of all the hills and stairs.

Summary: Amazing value and great location (close to the train station). It was such a cozy place!
