Positive: We immediately felt welkom.The homestay has a lovely, family atmosphere and is surrounded by nature — we even spotted monkeys in the garden! Her husband is a wonderful cook, and breakfast was a delightful surprise every morning. We stayed for four nights and found the location perfect for exploring the area. We did all our trips by tuk-tuk, which made it even more enjoyable.

Positive: This was the first place we stayed on our family holiday in Sri Lanka. We were so happy there! The hosts are incredibly warm and friendly, they shared stories with us about their culture and country and they went out of their way to make sure we were happy and comfortable. They were so wonderful with our two kids aged 3 and 5, who still talk about them! The swimming pool was fantastic and the visiting monkeys and nearby railway line were a bonus. The on site restaurant serves fantastic food.

Negative: Nothing, everything was great. Some people may find the location a bit far away from things but we enjoyed the rural setting and peaceful feel. It's easy enough to get a tuk tuk to nearby attractions and the hosts are happy to organise one any time.

Summary: One of the most memorable places we've stayed, with a quaint train station nearby.

Positive: We loved our time at Bissa Villa, the rooms are well spaced and you really feel part of the landscape. We had bats nesting on our patio and watched monkeys capering about whilst floating in the pool. The hosts were very kind and went out of their way to make us feel safe and comfortable (even getting up at 4 in the morning to make sure we weren't disturbed by elephants as we left to climb Sigiriya for sunrise). Would definitely recommend.

Positive: Everything!! The warm welcome and hospitality of the owners is second to none. The location is great between the tourist hubs of Sigirya and the National Parks. Wonderful rural location close to the main road and train station. Full of wildlife and lovely to have a pool.

Positive: A real treat to stay in such a natural environment. You get everything you want from a stay, in a Forest/Jungle environment. You could not meet a nicer couple dedicated to make you welcome!! So close to Habarana without all the noise. Yes there are trains but it is part of the appeal of this experience!!! Restaurant was an added bonus. It was easy access for us in our late 70’s.

Positive: Beautiful, rural location. Fantastic being next to the railway line, which made our onward travel to Trinco via Gal Oya Junction very convenient and cheap! The villas are beautiful The swimming pool is amazing The train hut, where meals are served, is a fantastic building and the food is fantastic The hosts are amazing and helped us out with any questions that we had
