Our house, perched at the foot of the ruins of the castle of Gilette, will offer you calm and incredible views of the Var and Esteron valleys. It is independent with a nice neighborhood that you will have to respect. You can rest without leaving the village: pharmacy, bread, butcher's shop / grocer's shop, restaurants and cafes are on site. 31 km from the Nice airport and the beaches, 33 km from the Promenade des Anglais, 36 km from old Nice, you will have easy access to a gilette via the Var valley, towards Grenoble / Gap. Gilette is an exclusively pedestrian village, free public parking on site.

Summary: We enjoyed being in this property very much. We knew it would be a struggle to access it, we had stayed in a similar hill village before, but It was worth the climb to have our own lovely garden which seemed to be up in the sky. The weather was good and we spent a lot of time blissfully sitting in the garden. Thank you.

Summary: Lovely, quaint , well equipped and well appointed property at the foot of castle ruins , with fantastic views over the mountains and Esteron river! Communication with the owner, Bruno Peyrelon was easy and he provided us with all the information needed at the property as well as the surrounding areas. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay- thank you!

Summary: Visited in early July. Absolutely stunning location and wonderfully quirky house. Very quiet with wonderful views across the L'Esteron and Var rivers. Takes about 15 minutes to drive up/down from the main road (M6202) from the Var if you are a tourist! Parking is only really available in the car parks on the outskirts of the village but we never found it an issue. The walk to the property is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Breakfasts are really enjoyable on the terrace in July when it is still cool in the morning. Village itself is very quiet but beautiful. If you want to eat out at night you may want to go further afield. Big Lidl supermarket at Gattières (go when it is quiet as the queues can be lengthy). Intermarche at Saint-Martin-du-Var, is closer and better for quick visits but less choice. The villages here are much more unspoiled than the ones closer to the coast. If the village charges for parking then we found that the experience was less enjoyable. A really good day trip is to head north to Guillaumes and Valberg but be warned that the latter at 1600m (higher than Ben Nevis) above sea level can be quite chilly even in summer. We thoroughly recommend this property for a laid back quiet holiday, Get yourself some provisions and some wine/pastis and you will enjoy this place.
