Positive: Fantastic location outside the common tourist areas. Beautifully situated on Lake Thun. Quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. Fair walk to the Spiez train station (although hilly) to get you to Thun in 10 mins, Interlaken or Oeschinensee in 25 mins, or Grindlewald and Lauterbrunnen within an hour. Very nice rooms, large space, clean and very quiet and comfortable. Easy walk to waterfront restaurants if you want to go beyond what the property offers (which is also very good). Fantastic breakfast on-site, pool, jacuzzi, dry sauna, and lounging area. This was our first trip to Switzerland, and we would absolutely stay here again.

Negative: Could use a concierge for those traveling from other countries. The front desk was generally kind and polite but would often answer basic questions (train related, or "where can I get a corkscrew") with "I dont know".. Didn't seem to make an effort to find the answer, and it felt like they couldn't be bothered (in fairness, it was the same person at the front desk I got both times, so maybe the others would have been more helpful). Any question about the hotel was handled well and was helpful, as well as storing luggage after checkout and before transporting from site. It wasn't a major issue, and maybe coming from a 5-star hotel in Paris with an excellent concierge grew on us. Could also use an iron and ironing board in the room and of course...a corkscrew...lol
